NRA Attacks Barack Obama Through His Kids!

You'd think that as much time as the National Rifle Association spends firing guns, they'd at least be accurate!

But their new ad really misses the mark, going after President Barack Obama through his children!

The ad suggests states that the POTUS is a hypocrite for promoting more gun control while Sasha and Malia are protected by armed guards at their school.

Ch-ch-check out the video (above) to hear the line of thought for yourself.

It sounds like a valid argument on the surface, but the truth is, it's a false equivalency.

As high priority targets, the First Family NEEDS security detail! Not only to protect against national security threats who might want to use them as leverage, but also against domestic threats.

Like, say, gun owners being oversaturated with images of their president as a dangerous dictator.

The truth is simple math- fewer guns in the hands of unstable people means fewer gun deaths at the hands of unstable people.

And if the NRA would just listen to reason, they wouldn't have to try to create their own!

Seems pretty accurate to me. He's ok with my kids not getting protection, but his kids have the best. How exactly are you planning to get the guns OUT of the hands of unstable people? The unstable people are stealing them. They aren't following the laws. So, you think they will follow any NEW laws? Sad.

    You are an idiot perez

    Man up

  4. 4

NRA are chicken shit kids, that feel they need their guns, People kill people not guns they say, this is true, but it take a person to pull that trigger on the gun. Most of the NRA are rednecks and have little education.

  5. thebigboot says – reply to this

There are armed guards at the school itself, this is not including the Secret Service so yes it is a bit hypocritical. Not to mention, kind of funny how he has to surround himself with children to make these announcements.

"The truth is simple math- fewer guns in the hands of unstable people means fewer gun deaths at the hands of unstable people." Except for Newton was done by stolen weapons, in fact many crimes are committed by people who shouldn't have them in the first place. So as usual, your simple math is stupid and without merit.

  6. Shanpori says – reply to this

I am a member if the NRA and I am far from being a redneck. If Obama can use kids to further his agenda why cant the NRA use them for their ad? Hypocrisy at its finest..

  7. Michele says – reply to this

Maybe he should stop using kids to promote gun control! And sweet summer night my parents are NRA members and my dad's retired Colonel and Vietnam vet … … he's no uneducated redneck he went to West Point… if you're going to arguing these people are stupid (and yes some definitely are) stop sounding stupid yourself!

  8. 8

I have to say I agree with Perez. They don't really have any strength behind their point, because of his position, his kids obviously need far more protection than most others. It's a very very weak argument, surprised that they saw this as their strongest angle, fail.

  9. Secret says – reply to this

Further, we dont ban cars for all the drunk driver deaths, why would we ban guns?

  10. thebigboot says – reply to this

Re: Lady Says – I wouldn't call it a fail. There is secret service with the children, as well as armed guards at the school. What's the point of having armed guards as well?

  11. 11

Why are his kids and family more important than mine or anyone else's in this country. High profile doesn't cut it in my opinion. Also, where is the concern for all the killings in the inner cities in this country? Chicago is out of control - young black men dying every day but nothing from POTUS….

  12. ghound says – reply to this

Perez, you are full of crap. The 'president' IS a hypocrite. He and his family are surrounded by armed guards for their protection. Who is to say a home invader isn't going to target a regular person's house (it happens every day) and a regular, law abiding citizen should not have the chance to protect themselves like the Obamas would like to be protected? What it is about the term 'law abiding' that liberals don't understand. It's a cliche but it is true….When guns are outlawed, only outlaws will have guns." Why should law abiding people have their right taken away? You do realize that the New York and Washington DC have the strictest gun control laws on the books, yet they have the highest rate of gun crimes….hmm why is that? You are a moron.

  13. Elena says – reply to this

I think this ad is accurate. How many of the president's children have been hurt or shot at? How many of our children all across america have been hurt or shot at. Why cant we as american's keep our children and families safe as we see fit just like Obama and every other hypocritical politician protecting their children with Guards that are armed with guns. A new assault weapons ban isn't going to help again.. I say again because in 94 they had a ban on "Assault Weapons" congress refused to renew it because it did nothing to help the crime. So again… law abiding citizens are the only ones hurting because the government only wants their guns. Not once have i heard anyone in the government talk about the criminals that are in possession of illegal guns. What are they going to do about that? Maybe they should do a sweep of all area's and homes that are known for gang activity and seize all of the guns. Maybe social workers should be checking on individuals with mental health issues and see if there are any guns around. Who knows. There are so many ideas that could have been brought up… But weren't.

  14. 14

    Re: thebigboot
True. I'm not saying there shouldn't be else where, I'm trying very hard to open my mind and be less naive/ignorant to gun laws in the US, I come from a different culture that guns just aren't really a part of. I just think that to better back there point, they need to come from a better angle or use different references. I guess what I'm saying is I simply don't agree with the hypocrisy of this video alone. The security risks are very different for his kids than ours, but by no means more important.

  15. 15

It is an ad aimed at inflaming hatred towards Obama in order to increase anger and opposition to any form of firearms restriction. Obama's kids are not more important than other kids - but they are at a higher risk. To pretend that the child of a president shares the same threat as an average child is absurd.

  16. 16

Re: arkgirl – You took the words right out of my brain. I no longer need to comment. Thank you!

Re: Secret – Cars are created primarily for transportation. They are also subject to multiple standards, laws and drivers are tested and also reprimanded/fined/punished for using automobiles in reckless or unsafe manners.

I am all for guns (gun owners) being subjected to the same scrutiny/legislation as licensed drivers: Annual registration fees, taxes, insurance, liability etc

  18. kandycane says – reply to this

I think Obama means well but the end result is this we don't have 500million dollars for BS.he's stupid! He will get his but shot over trying to make guns hard to get for those that obey the law. He is putting a target on himself knowing this will not clean our streets. If I was black I would be pissed, because black kids are killing each other on the streets and he doesn't seem to pinch a tear out for them.? He's not directing his focus on street guns, why not?

  19. 19

Funny how the media never said a thing about CHICAGO and the record number of killings. Now they have their agenda. Why do all the celebrities and news media people who are pushin for this have armed body guards and their kids schools can have guards, but no one else can. They value their lives more than ours? Why are they going after guns??? WHy not go after alchohol, tobacco, presciption drugs…etc? how many murders, suicides, rapes, robbery, deaths are casuse by these?? But again, the NRA is a right leading, so this gives the media to go after them. so fake, political and bias. Why does the media never show the NUMEROUS amount of stories, where lives where saved, because someone had a gun to protect themselves or others.

  20. Education says – reply to this

Guns do not kill on their own - people using guns kill.
Sad that our society is so ignorant on this issue … people make choices, guns do not choose who they kill.

Perez, your opinions are killing me! We should limit you then - simple math :)

  21. smartone says – reply to this

Perez… Please do us ALL a favor and stick to Celebrity Blogging. You have absolutely no credibility when it comes to politics and your post regarding the NRA is completely bogus, and bias.

All kids deserve security from potential threats not just those of money hungry politicians whose only goal in life is to make sure they stay a float while the rest of us deal with the consequences of their poor decisions.

    Such a pity.

  22. kandycane says – reply to this

Re: JeffB – that means stick it to the responsible gun owner and let the street guns outnumber them. Is basically all you're saying

  24. caravaggio_the_wiser says – reply to this

He is certainly ripe for impeachment. And what about Obama attacking gun owners or even the NRA through the use of "children on stage" during his unveiling of 23 new executive orders? Im glad he's doing this, it will prompt overthrow of this incredibly corrupt government on both sides. Weapons have TRIPLED in price since Obama's assault began.

  25. MsGofstr says – reply to this

Over 250,000 people have joined the NRA since the Newtown shooting in December. I think lots of folks are listening to what the NRA has to say.

  26. claire says – reply to this

There’s a reason why the 2nd Amendment isn’t to protect our right to hunt. Its to protect our right to oppose a tyrannical government and it also happens to be the reason our President is limited by terms and why we have division of powers. TO PROTECT AGAINST A TRYRANICAL GOVERNMENT. Again, not to hunt! The founding fathers were obviously pretty concerned with this if it made them set up the ENTIRE government this way and if they put it all the way up at Amendment #2!!! The ONLY right more important is freedom of speech. That’s it. If it was THAT important to the founding fathers, than if you are going to claim to be American, then WHY AREN’T YOU???? Is it because the big business owned media has played to your emotions and manipulated you with the same types of mind control Hitler used. Why yes, it probably is. Wake up and research the truth before making emotional decisions that they’re bottle feeding you. Gun control doesn’t work! Look it up. When you put restrictions on guns, it only affects people who are buying guns legally. (LAW-ABIDING CITIZENS). Criminals don’t buy guns legally, so the ony thing gun control will do is make law-abiding citizens easier prey for criminals. THAT’S IT!

  27. TexasTiff says – reply to this

Yeah because if guns are illegal people can't buy them….that works well for drugs being illegal too. It just means all the wrong people have guns and none of the good people do. if you are denied buying a gun you can still get one off the streets….

  28. claire says – reply to this

Way to be stereotypical. If that's true then most people who support gun bans have no common sense and don't even know why their country is made the way it is. And they're being taken advantage of by corporate owned media JUST LIKE PEREZ!

  29. 29

Hello he is our President. Security totally implies. Remember Kennedy got shot. NRA total redneck clan.

Just reviewed a list of all school shootings done in the past 10 years and guess what? Most shootings are done by KIDS who attended that school. Sounds like the real problem is mental health and violent video games and movies created by Hollywood — you know, those people who decry gun violence.

  34. irvinegirl says – reply to this

Re: SweetSummerNight – NRA members are not the people doing the shooting. That's being done by thugs and criminals and by students themselves. Do some research before shooting off your big mouth.

  35. Vkpaul says – reply to this

The president is protected by highly trained professionals. They are trained to use guns and to keep calm. You can't compare those professionals having guns to you having one just because it is your right.
I don't feel safe knowing that anyone can just buy a gun without any sort of training. Am I supposed to walk around with a gun 24/7 just to be safe? What happened to my freedom to walk around without being afraid of getting shot?

  36. a says – reply to this

I dont understand why so many people use this section to just hate on Perez! If you hate him so much, then don't go on his sites!! C'mon people, stop being so mean and ugly!

  37. 37

Crazies will make bombs then… Etc… This entire gun control issue is hysteria and stupid considering more people died of alcohal related deaths, the flu etc… Than the 87 shot last year OUT OF HUNDREDS OF MILLION people in this country. Obama is STRIPPING YOUR RIGHTS away people and you are clueless and playing into his greater and later agenda. This country is heading in a horrible direction and we will pay the price once he has you off guard by the balls.

  38. 38

Go watch the movie "the Land of Blood & Honey" to see why this supposed gun agenda is WRONG and get a clue as to this is a much bigger
picture than what they claim is "protecting the kiddies"… People STUDY WORLD HISTORY.

    Re: claire – CLAIRE EXACTLY.

  40. Midwest_Warrior says – reply to this

It's interesting that the WH's response to this was not to use Obama's kids as "political pawns". I'm sorry but how many times has Obama himself used his daughters as examples when talking about women's health? Hmmmm OR the fact that he used the Newtown kids as a backdrop when presenting his plan. Political pawns anyone?
His kids are no more important then mine. He acts like he is royalty. Now a days my kids are just as much "at risk" as his are. Why doesn't he want mine to be protected? Gee.. cuz I'm just a little pheasent huh? He is a hypocrite plain and simple.
Unstable people will always find a way to hurt people. Guns, knives, bombs… we need to look at mental health and stop trying to limit peoples rights. If you don't like guns don't buy one. Isn't that basically what abortionist say about abortion? ANd they actually murder 3300 children a DAY.

  41. 41

Let me clarify - the 87 killed last year in mass shootings as compared to the hundreds of millions who live here.

My own father fought in wars to earn our citizens the RIGHT to bear arms and Obama is stripping us of these rights and he is anti-military. He hangs with the commies and dictators. You people are foolish to buy into his scheme.

  42. Midwest_Warrior says – reply to this

BTW I joined the NRA today. I'm college educated although, if you want to call me a redneck that would be fine with me :)

  43. Sarah says – reply to this

Not one child killed in a mass shooting has been related to the president. This commercial is spot on. There already are laws to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally ill. Now let's see parents of the mentally ill step up and make sure they abide by that rule in their home.

  46. 46

Re: Ravenlover – They're not, but they are higher risk. This ad is put out by assholes who hide behind their guns. Give them a 1791 musket if they're so desperate to use the Second Amendment.

Kudos to "sweetlikecherrycola"…..excellent post …you hit the nail square on the head.

Obama is a celebrity and nothing more.

  51. 51

To those stating the NRA is "full of rednecks" :

    1. You sound ridiculously ignorant, and you are ridiculously, terribly wrong.
    2. So-called "rednecks" are valid members of the very same country that you inhabit, and have the very same rights to freedom of expression and protection as you do.
    3. (most importantly) To look down on "them" the way you are doing, with your insults and insinuations that those who are "rednecks" don't have a vote or a say in your so-called "free democratic" society, only makes y'all sound like "elitist" hypocrites yourself. In defending Obama as your saviour, and calling the NRA a bunch of rednecks, you are only proving those "rednecks" are 100% correct.

Which makes y'all sound pretty fucking stupid.

  52. 52

So an intruder comes into your home, WITH A GUN because you know he/she will have one - what do you do? Are you going to stand there and beg him/her not to take your life, or are you going to pull out your gun and protect yourself? Using a knife won't work. Mace won't work. A tazer isn't going to scare anyone off. You want to live? Own a gun. I would be PRAISING my children's school if they had 2 armed men/women protecting their school, and I would be begging for more.

  53. 53

Re: thebigboot – Do you realize that in trying to make your point that guns are to blame, you pointed out to all of us that "it take[s] a person to pull that trigger on the gun"? Your point is beyond invalid.

  54. yvassallo says – reply to this

Re: Brainiac – The NRA might not be full of rednecks but they are acting like a bunch of rednecks, putting the right to bear arms over a child's safety… total BS

  55. 55

Re: yvassalloRe: yvassallo – Guns have SAVED lives to include children's lives - only, the biased, liberal media hypes up the hysteria and only reports on just the negative outcomes. I value a gun rights because if we lose the right to defend ourselves from a growing tyranical government you run a high risk of many more lives being in jeopardy. Study your history.

  56. Kweazy says – reply to this

Hmm. About 10 of these 55 comments actually agree with you, Perez. All his "new" gun laws are doing what he wanted them to do. They make you feel safe and cozy don't they? Unfortunately, if someone is crazy enough to kill 20 children, these cozy gun laws won't stop them. They will only keep the honest people honest, and make sweet Perez feel cozy. Keep blindly following this idiot leader until he runs our country in to the ground. By the way, I am not a Republican, member of the NRA, or a redneck. I'm a teacher!

  57. Adam says – reply to this

So Obama's kids are with more than our kids? he gets to decide how his children a protected, why do we not get to? Sounds like an elite mentality to me.

  58. George says – reply to this

If gun free zones work why don't we just declare a one mile radius around the president a gun free zone? We would save a fortune getting rid of the secret service. It'll work! You know, cuz no guns allowed, and we mean it.

  59. jk says – reply to this

His little girls are no more important than min iIf his little girls can be protected by guns so can min, In the privacy of my own home I have the right to protect my kids and NOT wait 20 minutes for under staffed police departments to get there. I will never give up my guns never ,and not for some asshat in the white house who plans on turning this country into another CUBA or Germany and any other facist country. The hugh powered guns that belong in the military need to stay right there or make sure our cops have those guns to portect with but a normal US citizen does not need those high powered guns unless they live in a ghetto and have gang bangers killing each other and them off. They need to stop sending those guns to Mexico too. Obama is playing another game. I find it very weird that Obama planned on disarming this US and then this mentally ill kid plays right into his hands? And then a few more do it?? Very odd and I dont have any doubts that he was behind it to make sure all the libs went screaming and pulling their hair, to make sure everyone loses their rights Again BECAUSE now he wants to change the 22nd Amendment so he can run a third time.

  61. Stating the Obvious says – reply to this

If Obama can exploit children to shove his agenda down the publics throats then all bets are off on his children. Every child deserves the same protection as Obamas daughters. They are no more important then all other children in this once great nation

  62. 62

These celebrities speaking out against gun violence, and the anti-gun politicians live in gated communities, with security systems that costs as much as our cars. Cops prioritize them over the average citizen. At big events, celebrities are protected by cops on our dime. Both politicians and celebrities have armed guards. It's easy to run your mouth about that when you're being protected. Some people have to rely on guns for home defense.

The hypocrisy is mind blowing. Obama, can take a couple of kids who were told what to write by their moronic parents and have them around him simply for a political edge reminding the public "hey kids got shot..KIDS!..WHITE KIDS!" but the NRA can't use kids for a political edge? Hypocrites.

  63. Kate O'Keefe says – reply to this

Re: Midwest_Warrior – You are out of your mind if you think that your kids are at the same amount of risk of being kidnapped or killed as Obama's children. No, your kids are of no less importance, but Obama's kids are way more likely to be seriously threatened or hurt because of who they are and who their father is. Presidents and their families have security for a reason. Whether the president in office is a Democratic or Republican, there are always going to be people who want to hurt them.

  64. flabbbergasted says – reply to this

    Re: pete
I see all these comments here and it is clear that America is full of batshit crazy people. How many massacres will it take to make you guys realize that your country has a huge problem? And what's your solution? More guns!

  65. 65

Kate. You really can't say that Onazi's kids are more in jeopardy because there's this "little epidemic reality called DOMESTIC VIOLENCE" where women and children are targeted by spouses etc… So don't assume Odictator's kids are more at risk. Second to Flabergasted; the ratio of people being killed by an automatic was less than 1% last year of the entire 300 million population. You apparently want the government tracking your every move and removing guns so your constitutional rights to be taken away and be stolen. Keep thinking like a naieve moron.

  66. OhPlease says – reply to this

The protection for our kids are the police and laws that keep other people from having assault weapons. If the person who shot up that school only had a regular gun and not assault weapons the loss would not have been nearly as horrific. Use your heads. The only reason to have an assault weapon is to hunt people. High profile people like the President and his family are often "hunted" because of what they represent so it makes sense that they have the Secret Service protecting them. Please take a moment to control your ignorance.

  67. 67

Re: OhPlease – Wrong. The reason to have an assault weapon is to protect us from Government tiranny. Get a clue. You give those up - you eventually turn into Cuba. These kids are being used as an excuse to disarm our citizens so we can be dominated by government take over - thus controlled.
