Helicopters fly overhead in major cities all the time. Having one crash on a busy street during rush hour is a nightmare few of us care to ponder.
Unfortunately, that's what happened in London Wednesday morning. A helicopter hit a crane atop a building, causing it to plummet to the pavement below.
Ch-ch-check out the video (above) for a home video of the fiery aftermath of the horrific ordeal.
Pilot Peter Barnes, a skilled Hollywood pilot whose moves are on display in the films Die Another Day and Saving Private Ryan, was killed, along with one pedestrian on the street below. One more pedestrian suffered critical injuries.
Thankfully, though there were other injuries, everyone else was easily treated with minor cuts and bruises.
Police Commander Neil Basu points out there could easily have been many more casualties. He says:
"It was something of a miracle that this was not many, many times worse."
We know those that lost loved ones don't think it could have been worse, and we offer our condolences on their loss.
But we also know the other thousands of people who pass over that stretch of road every day are thanking their lucky stars today!
Renee Zellweger made her return to the red carpet at Elle's annual Women In Hollywood Awards on Monday night, and she looked well, not immediately recognizable!
Despite looking extra wide-eyed, the actress also proudly showed off her fresh, dewy skin. Not to say she doesn't look good, but after comparing her looks from the past few years, we couldn't help but wonder if she had gone under the knife, or maybe just upped her own facial routine.
So we EXCLUSIVELY chatted with one of the country's top plastic surgeons, Dr. Alessi, of the Alessi Institute and Face Forward Foundation, to get his very own medical opinion on her new look. While he isn't Renee's doctor, he brings up some very interesting points!
