The friend confided to People Magazine:

When you’ve got lemons, you should definitely make lemonade.
Although she “felt like [her] whole world had fallen apart,” J.Lo got a little help to use that pain in a productive way.
“[Director Taylor Hackford] called me and he was like, 'I have a part for you.’ And I was like, 'Really? Oh, cool. What is it?' And he was like, 'You know, I've been watching you on American Idol, and I love that girl. I love her, but that's not who I want. But it made me think something in this character. … When I see you there, I think you never give up. You keep going.”
If anyone can bounce back from hard times it is Jenny from the Block!
And even though Jennifer might not have been at her best, she eventually saw the similarities. She said:
“[My Parker character] Leslie, even when she's down on the bottom and everything is bad at that time, she won't give up. She still has a glimmer of hope.”
Sounds just like J.Lo!
We can only wonder if her Leslie character ends up with a hot boy toy as well.
Now that’s a movie we want to see!
