Arnold Schwarzenegger Says Action Films Do NOT Cause Real-Life Violence

| Filed under: Film FlickersPolitikArnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger Movie Violence

When people talk about big, violent action movies, the first name they usually think of is Arnold Schwarzenegger.

So does the Terminator star think that his many acts of onscreen violence have inspired any real-life gun violence?

No way! He doesn't think there's any connection at all. He says:

"It is such a horrific tragedy, but we have to separate out what is in the movies – which is pure entertainment – and what is out there in reality."

But if movie violence has no effect at all, what does Arnold think the U.S. should do about gun violence? He says:

"When you have a tragedy like that and you lose so many lives, I think you owe it to society to do everything you can and look at everything – dealing with mental health, parenting in America, are the schools safe, and do we have the right safety features in place, and should we look at gun laws again, and look if there are any loopholes that can be closed."

Sounds like a pretty measured and comprehensive plan from Conan The Barbarian!

If you were expecting him to say something about crushing enemies and hearing the lamentations of their women, don't forget — the man was a governor for eight years!

I don't think I will be taking advice from Arnold at anytime in my lifetime.

He's right. Normal, sane people do not get influenced by the crap they see on TV. But mentally off people do. People of all different demographics get influenced by crap all the time. They are called fads. 50 shades of gray, grown women read a poorly written book. It influenced them to try bondage while also influencing them to buy the same exact sex toys used in the movies. There were numerous news segments about this during this fad. So it's no stretch that a mentally ill person will see violence on TV, watch the media and then see how they glamorize these shooters and make them famous.

It most definitely is not one of the top variables as a cause to violence, but it is a variable none the less.
