Rapper Lupe Fiasco has never had a problem with speaking his mind — and last night was no exception!
Lupe, who's from Chicago, performed at an unofficial inaugural ball on Sunday night and managed to turn a weekend of Barack Obama-centric celebration into one of criticism!
After performing his song, Words I Never Said at StartUp RockOn's concert, Lupe was reportedly rushed off the stage, after the crowd of Obama supporters became furious!
“[Rush] Limbaugh is a racist, Glenn Beck is a racist. Gaza Strip was getting bombed, Obama didn't say shit. That’s why I ain't vote for him, next one either."
Though, the song is about two years old by now — you'd think the event promoters would have known that something like this could've occurred!
Not only that, but Lupe has never been one to hold back what he's REALLY thinking!
After the whole incident occurred, the event's promoters released a statement explaining:
"Lupe Fiasco performed at this private event, and as you may have read, he left the stage earlier than we had planned. But Lupe Fiasco was not 'kicked off stage' for an 'anti-Obama rant.' We are staunch supporters of free speech, and free political speech. This was not about his opinions. Instead, after a bizarrely repetitive, jarring performance that left the crowd vocally dissatisfied, organizers decided to move on to the next act."
And, while we too support freedom of speech, maybe the promoters should've done a little more research!
Where's Kanye?! LOLz!
