I'm guessing it's a "WTH are we doing?" moment that stops dead as the cheating memory comes back or something. And the script will be where one or both realize their feelings have changed and they no longer feel like a couple (for now). Based on RPM's history of Tweasing 
I'm fine with that, since it'll add more drama to the storyline (perhaps even some comedy), more character development and allow Colfer and Criss to stretch their performing muscles a bit. I do think they'll get back together eventually, but the new love interest is intriguing.
BTW, I wish New Directions would cover this song: "Stand Up" from a foreign HS flick, "The Curiosity of Chance":
