There are far greater villains. This is spoon fed nonsense.
For starters, NME is an indie/rock/alternative magazine. Of COURSE they think Harry Styles is a villain but this is probably just to annoy 'directioners' or whatever they call themselves. It's nominated for worst band because in they eyes of the public that read the magazine, they ARE on of the worst bands. For example, they came from X Factor, which most NME fans do not like.
If you got all the 'directioners' to write a similar list, I'm sure some bands that NME think are amazing would be on the 'directioners' worst bands list.
Just don't read the magazine if you are a one direction fan (or similar, e.g. 'beliber')
Re: Madelyn Anne Williams – The Beatles are still very very famous over thirty years on, I highly doubt that One Direction will be. Especially since they derived from X Factor which usually produces highly successful bands that last for about three years then fade out.

Yes, the girl was out of line saying they are bigger than The Beatles but from how their career is going, if they can handle the pushing of their management, give them five years at least to continue on- they've gone 3 already and you still hear about them. I bet you 2013 will be the same way, along with 2014, and so on. They have high potential. People know about them. Unlike 'The Wanted' or 'Union J' (*note I love both of them), they are already good for another 2-5 years with their fanbase.

nme. this is the same magazine that a few years back gave a convicted criminal/crackhead (and who sadly is also an extremely gifted lyricist) an award for sexiest male and HERO of the year. all whilst in the throes of a terrible addiction to heroin. quality judgement and accurate evaluation: two things the nme aren't really capable of pulling off.

I'm not a huge fan of 1D, but they're not the "Worst Band" ever, nor does Harry deserve being "Villain of the Year". Why not nominate ACTUAL real-world villains, instead of people who have done nothing to the world (except contribute okay-ish music)?!
