Justin Bieber & One Direction's Music Make Us All Better People?!

| Filed under: Music MinuteJustin BieberOne DirectionHealth

Ummmmmm… we love pop music but really?!

A "scientific" study researching music's mental effect on adolescents followed a group of 300 12-16 year-old kids in the Netherlands for four years…

And apparently the researchers found that those who listened to mainstream pop — music like Justin Bieber and One Direction — were generally "well behaved" (whatever THAT means!), while those who preferred music like hip-hop, punk, metal, gothic, trans, and techno showed signs of "acting out" by the time they were 16.

UMM we say again… what?! We don't like generalizations!

There is definitely something OFF about this study! First of all there are too many variables in music and human action to prove any type of causal relationship like this.

And also, what the eff does "acting out" even mean?! Experimenting? Isn't that just NORMAL teen behavior?!

We think this study needs a thorough examination by multiple groups to be deemed "scientific!"

Hey, maybe listening to Justin Bieber and One Direction's music really does turn us into "perfect" human beings who dare never to disobey society standards, while listening to more "alternative" styles has the detrimental outcome of creating the wild children of the world…

But there aint NOTHING wrong with being a little wild now and then, as long as you're not harming others! LOLz!!!

I think this is a little backwards. Listening to little girly music doesn't make you less bad - it is just that little girly girls listen to this crap. That's all.

    sad but kinda true.

    just compare this:
    A. boys listen to JB or 1D. (f4ggot)
    B. boys listen to lil Wayne or Eminem. (rude, swearing)

Shut it. Just.. Shut it. Please.
Music is a lot of a teenager's life.
Have you LISTENED to their songs?
Before looking at them and goin', "EWW! 1D are losers! HAHAHAHA!"
Listen to their song, 'Little Things'.
It's a BEAUTIFUL song, that helps teens feel better about themselves.

So before YOU or anyone else says,

"Omigod! I'm about to die! 'What Makes You Beautiful' is about to come on! AHH! Change the damn radio!! CHANGE IT! I don't want to listen to music that helps teens feel better about themselves!!"

DON'T. Just shut your mouth, Haters gonna be haters, they're doing well without your damn hate.

Re: Biff T – Yes! Give me some classic rock music like Rolling Stones "Brown Sugar" or any of their other songs, and when I am in a more mellow mood I like Jimmy Buffett, saw him in concert once and he is a great entertainer. His shows are fun also, people were selling Jello shots in the parking lot.
