J.J. Abrams DUMPED Star Trek For Star Wars!?

jj abrams directing star wars 7 dumping star trek franchise

If these SHOCKING rumors are confirmed, we're destined for an intergalactic nerd Civil War!

J.J. Abrams will direct the next Star Wars film, so we NEED to know… how can he helm Star Trek 3 at the same friggin' time?!

Short of some newfangled Federation technology that allows him to beam back and forth between sets, he can't!

The Vice Chairman of Paramount offered no consoling news during a recent interview.

He stated:

“J.J. will continue to develop projects for us including a new ‘Mission: Impossible,’ and he is committed to produce another ‘Star Trek.’”

Produce? PRODUCE!?

If we wanted produce, we would hit up The Farmer's Market at The Grove — we want a director!!!

J.J. did the unthinkable with Star Trek! He satiated a fierce legion of lifelong fans AND drew in a younger generation of cash-spending moviegoers who don't know a Romulan mining vessel from a Klingon Bird of Prey!

So the world is Trekkies are understandably anxious to learn the director is taking his talents to a galaxy far, far away! Especially on the eve of Benedict Cumberbatch's appearance in Star Trek 2!!

Still, how COOL will Star Wars be?

Ugh! We can't decide… Lightsabers or phasers?!

Which side R U on?

Can you leave the Trek and the Wars alone. The two "nerd" universes are uniting right now and there you can take both sides. Leave this kind of BS to the Kardashians and all the other stupid gossip crap. You have no place doing this to the Wars or Trek!

As a lifelong Star Trek Fan, I'd be glad to see Abrams go. He's a great fit for Star Wars, but not Star Trek. Star Trek was a good movie because of the cast.

The true diservice is that a gutter like this website is even trying to stir up the debate at all. Perez, these aren't the droids you are looking for. #1 Engage.

Re: @chrisdude – Couldnt agree more, big fan of both (ignoring last three Star Wars…) but the last Star Trek film was mostly action and little thnking or exploring, it took a bit too many pages out of the star wars book and needs to head more in the other direction. Still, loved the film but ya know.

Most likely Abrams will keep his commitments (because he is probably under contract) with Paramount. He has 4-6 projects with them. (MI:V, Star Trek 3, God Particle, Wunderkind, Lance Armstrong Bio Pic, and Collider). Most likely he will push Star Wars back a year (as it's the art department stuff that's going to take time) and he probably will squeeze his other projects around Star Wars.

Star Trek died after JJ Dickbrams ruined it, still at least it can be saved by someone else sometime in the future.

Who cares if he leaves Star Trek as a director. There are plenty of able directors out there that can handle it.

Don't underestimate the work and the influence of a film producer. It's still going to be Abrams company doing Star Trek 3. He's still very much in control, just not directing.

Re: Steve – How is that even a response to what I said? Is English a second or third language for you?

It's so amusing how offended people are, when most of you don't produce, write, or direct films for a living. Everyone has the option to just not go see either movie. Don't like the new Star Trek's alternate time line, don't go see it. Don't like Mr. Abrams work in general and think he shouldn't direct or have an influence in the new Star Wars Trilogy, don't go see it! It's simple. Get over it, films and TV series, and novels, are going to continue to be made with or with out any of our approval. Get over it.
