Charlie's candor is always appreciated here. Charlie might also look at what happened in another way. From observations, Armstrong seems to have uber repressed emotions. The mega-competetiveness is somehow all balled up into that and into his self justification for things. His saying 'that's nice' could have been him actually meaning it, but as I said, I think he masques his feelings to such an extreme degree for whatever reasons that that's how it comes off to others and came off to Charlie. Lance might have actually thought he was responding kindly.
