It may be silly, but after being bombarded with the Super Bowl's advertiser-driven, WAY WAY WAY over-the-top love affair with itself and it's commercials, watching a bunch of dogs run into each other is just a breath of fresh air. Maybe if they went back to marching bands it would become interesting again.

Michael Jackson, for his undeniable and limitless talent and artistry; and the excitement over his performance was palpable because he was just so good. I'll never forget that performance and him standing there with his hair and shirt blowing in that wind machine, while he performed right in the centre of the zone.
His honed abilities put him on the zenith of performance. He rarely missed.
How did Prince get left off the list? He also darn near killed himself playing an electric guitar in the rain.
Madonna is on my top list. She was original, creative, and artistic, e.g. choreography, stage presentation, technical production, and her singing. MJ cannot be ruled out …. For this SuperBowl, Beyonce's dance moves were expected. On some instances, her facial expression/look somehow mimicked J. Lo.

Why is Madonna's show last year even on the list?!?! She no longer entertaining, had used up her craft for longer then she should have & was SO obviously out of her element. EVERY SINGLE PERSON I spoke with last year about her performance, (mainly men), HATED whatever parts they did see…. And as a woman, I couldn't agree more. What a drag!!

What other one captivated the audience from when the doubles first jumped out the top of the stadium until the very end of his song Heal the World???? What other halftime spread a message so deep except for the 9/11 show???? no one. from when the doubles first came out, when MJ stood there for 1 1/2 -2 mins without moving, to his speech, to his involving the whole stadium on his message of heal the children, no one can beat that. Not one of those first four you listed would be in my top five halftime shows, nor in the top five of many people I know. As someone here mentioned, U2's was the best show ever and not just because of the Sept. 11 salute. They were smart in keeping it to just two songs instead of trying to do a sampling of several hits. Some of these shows remind me of being on iTunes listening to a snippet and trying to decide if we want to buy this song or not. Having said that, however, I would still put Beyonce/Destiny's Child in the top five for pure energy and choreography. It reminded me a bit of a Busby Berkeley scene from a 1930s musical.
