One Direction Announces Plans To Keep Raising Funds To Fight Poverty! Watch HERE!

| Filed under: Music MinuteInspirationOne Direction

We could not be more PROUD of our boys in One Direction!

As we've reported, the group recently traveled to a supremely impoverished region of Ghana as part of the United Kingdom's Red Nose Day/Comic Relief efforts, which raises funds to help alleviate poverty worldwide!

And while we were all treated to an AWESOME cover of Blondie's One Way Or Another to help raise money for the cause, we're delighted to announce that it is simply NOT ENOUGH for Harry, Zayn, Louis, Liam and Niall, as they've decided to continue fundraising efforts of their own to help all those in far worse circumstances than those facing us!

But they want input from the fans, too!

Ch-ch-check out the video to see how you can do your part (above)!

Just SO touching!

And right when they're about to embark upon what sounds to be an EXHAUSTING world tour!

But hey! That will probably simultaneously help them promote such an important message!

So thrilled to see you using your platform to give back! Don't ever change, guys!

Re: free – You've obviously never spent much time in under-developed parts of Africa. I can tell you from experience at the end of a long day traveling around and visiting different areas you do get that dirty and dusty. Where I went there weren't wonderful paved roads everywhere, it looked eerily similar to these pictures and I went to Uganda not Ghana. I understand being weary of famous people filming in impoverished areas, but can't you just see they are trying to do a good thing and bring awareness to a good cause. Let's focus on that instead of always being critical of others, the world might actually be a nicer place. Idealistic, yes I know…but sometimes it's just nicer to be that way.

It's all about self promotion, they don't care about whats going on in the poor countries. It's the same with all celebs that contribute to "charity".

Re: adelaide – I know this Adelaide and I'm an idealist myself but this is just so obvious- look at the guy on the right, he's practically wearing a burlap bag! They're so afraid not to offend anyone wearing their usual fashion brands. Like I wrote: as long as it helps, it helps but I don't believe for one minute that these guys really care- it's purely promotion and marketing at work.

I wish they could wear a brown coat when they are walking in front of their fans on the streets. Great style by the way.

    Re: free

Didn't I read about Harry spending a couple of thousand on pizzas and handing them out to the homeless (for no publicity) so I think they may be sincere…I would hope that you go to a terribly impoverished place it would have a lasting impression on you and open you to more charitable attitude and appreciation for how very lucky you are.

  15. 15

Free needs a hug. That's it.

  16. 16

I can hug for free…LOL…I would love to hug these boys for free. What an amazing work. I feel inspired already :)

  17. 17

The only people that could possibly think their Blondie cover is "awesome" are ones that haven't heard the original.

  18. 18

What a CON JOB; Americans have been giving for decade to the poor…AND THEY ARE STILL POOR…never having ever TOUCHED ONE PENNY!

zayn donated 500 000 pounds, which saves 100 000 lives. so stop saying they don't care. geez.

  20. 20

Re: free – I completely disagree, I think they do care, I know it sounds crazy big celebs acting give a shit about something, but I do think some celebs like One Direction actually do care.

  21. 21

I'm not saying they don't care or are bad people or anything but its pretty obvious they're management set them up for this. They didn't wake up in the morning thinking "Hmmm…lets go help out the poor people in Ghana." This a PR case to make them look compassionate (which i'm not saying they aren't)

Re: Thisgirlfrom_VA – They don't care. They might donate money to charity, but the fact they make it so public shows that it's just to promote themselves. They'll make all the money they donate back within days of new albums / merchandise being released.

It's the same with all celebs though, and events like comic relief only choose whoever is popular at the time to get as many fans to watch a short clip of them in a poor country, occasionally one of them will force out a tear to make it look like they care. Just look at the history of the acts that have been on the show, spice girls, westlife, mc fly, girls aloud, jls, the saturdays and many more.

  23. 23

I totally believe that they are promoting awareness of poverty in this video. Sure, it looks good to do good and they have a huge tour coming up, but if they get the word out about this what is the harm? Look how Clooney has tried to bring attention to Dafur (sorry if I misspelled it). I object to people like Oprah who continuously does good but boy do we have to hear about every last detail. Charity is charity, no matter who is doing it, right?

  24. 24

This is all PR and while I do think its great to help those in need, it bothers me that they use poor people and poverty as a mean to do raise their image.

They're album was no 1 in 37 countries and they're world tour of 10 months is already sold out? So what do they need the PR for? Actually every year in Britain aryist do a charity single for Red Nose Day / Comic Relief. This year the boys being so famous will bring even more attention to it. And they are the first artist ever to pay for the videoclip and evrything else on this trip themselves so the money can go to the charity. The Prime Minister Cameron said they will double the tax funds for evety pound the charity single will make! Not to mention Zayn donated half a million.
Louis did a charity football game last year, Harry spend 3 grand on pizza and drove around giving it to homeless people. And Niall on his freaking 19th birthday no less did a charity event. How many teenagers do you know that would do something like that on their birthday? Let alone rich and famous ones! And no, all of this off course doesn't get written about. These boys are good and really DO care. if it was for PR they would've made these big stories as well. They do a lot more for charity then this. They are using their fame to get more attention to the charity. Using it for good. What have you done instead of hating on boybands? People need to get a life!
