This is beautiful music to our ears!!!
Silver tongued actress Anna Kendrick has signed on to play the lead role of Catherine in Richard LaGravenese's film adaptation of heart-wrenching off-broadway musical The Last Five Years!!
The play chronicles the five year relationship of novelist Jamie and aspiring actress Catherine, and the storytelling involves a non-traditional structure where the two main (and only) characters' time lines go in reverse.
"[It's] about a young man and young woman in their 20's who meet, fall in love, get married and break up, all in the span of five years. All of her songs start at the end of their relationship and go to the beginning, and all of his songs start at the beginning and go to the end…It goes back and forth like that."
Their time line's do intersect ONCE — when they sing a duet during their wedding.
We are SO excited that this creative, unique, RIVETING play is getting immortalized on film, and we can't think of a more perfect fit for the character of Catherine than the super talented Anna!
The small budget indie has yet to cast the role of Jamie…
SO what do you think readers?! Who should play the object of Anna's ill-fated affections??
