    What does this lady care how Kate appears to the media. So she's polite and keeps to herself? Well she also uses her popularity to bring awareness to humanitarian missions and she makes charitable donations with her money.
    So who cares if she is boring, it's better than being some jerk who blasts people they don't know over stupid stuff. There are way worse things in the world than being boring and having manners.

    If she showed any 'quirks' the media would bash her for it. Damned if you do damned if you don't. Just bc she behaves in public doesn't mean there is something wrong w/her.

    I think Hilary Mantel is stuck in the Tudor era that she writes about. If it were true that Kate was married to William simply to breed, then they would have chosen someone with royal blood lines, not a commoner. And just because she behaves herself in public does not mean that she has no personality. All in all, a very unfair assessment.

    Kate Middleton is a ROTHSCHILD. The marriage of William and Kate is really the marriage of the SAXE-COBURG-GOTHA bloodline and the ROTHSCHILD bloodline.

    Jeeezzzeeee. Can't this stupid Hilary Mantel find something worthwhile to bitch about? Why should she care about Kate and her personality? Hilary is a butt ugly, bitter woman who is fiercely jealous of Kate. This is her way of getting attention because nobody knows or cares who she is.

    Maybe all of you should read the full transcript of
    what author Hilary Mantel said. The soundbite reported by the press makes it sound like an attack, when in actual fact the attack is on how the media portray and people perceive, not just Kate, but Royal consorts through history. A proper reading or even listening of the speech shows she was actually defending Kate!

    She's right. Kate is horribly controlled, painfully thin, and her ONLY real job in being a "princess" is producing "an heir and a spare" because the state of the throne is more important than anything to the royals. She can't be with her family, because she has royal obligations and she isn't as wild as she actually is (and if you've seen the LOADS of pictures of her before she was with William, you know she likes clubs and partying..) and she's just a royal robot. It's no wonder that Harry is the favorited person in the family, because he's normal… he does his duties, but he's still himself and isn't the manufactured royal that they, yes, breed. Do you think if she never married William that she'd be this poised? That she'd be this robotic? This pregnant, after being asked a million times about when the new heir would arrive? No. She's a puppet.

    the irony of this post ending in inviting us to ogle pictures of her and her baby bump. READ the original lecture. it was a comment on the way the media reduces her to a kind of shop mannequin - what clothes is she wearing and where, now look at her being amazing with her pregnancy. it wasnt an attack on her looks. it was an attack on how she has been stripped back. the lecture is an interesting piece on the media machine and the way the royal family are treated.

    Hillary Mantel is such a nobody, that in order to get people to notice her, she should mention Kate Middleton. I pity Mantel for being such a bitter and ugly woman. Go get a plastic surgery!! Meow..

    What else is she supposed to do? Truth be told, so was Diana. She adopted several charities but so has Kate. The difference is that Kate's husband is not the polar opposite of her so her actions don't stand out as being so different from those of the other "stuffy" Royals. The Royal family is nothing more than a tourist attraction. They have no political power so I don't see the point in bashing a figure head.
