Kelly Clarkson Challenges Clive Davis! Reveals Her Own Dirty Deets About 'Crying Story'!

| Filed under: Icky Icky PooKelly ClarksonBookz

kelly clarkson fires back at clive davis

We're SUPER proud of Clive Davis for coming out of the closet about his bisexuality!

But now he's pissed Kelly Clarkson the f*ck off!

So you know we gotta get into tasty lil' dish!

Kelly heard that in his new memoir, The Soundtrack of My Life, the music mogul wrote of Kelly's 'hysterical' tears during one of their meetings.

But the original American Idol says HELL NAW to that piece of bullshiz. To retaliate, she wrote a new blog post on her WhoSay website that details what — according to her — REALLY went down in that office.

And FYI, it ain't pretty for Clive!

Read her open letter …AFTER THE JUMP!!!

"So I just heard Clive Davis is releasing a memoir and spreading false information about me and my music. I refuse to be bullied and I just have to clear up his memory lapses and misinformation for myself and for my fans. It feels like a violation. Growing up is awesome because you learn you don't have to cower to anyone - even Clive Davis.

First, he says I burst into "hysterical sobbing" in his office when he demanded Since You Been Gone be on my album. Not true at all. His stories and songs are mixed up. I did want more guitars added to the original demo and Clive did not. Max, Luke and I still fought for the bigger sound and we prevailed and I couldn't be more proud of the life of that song. I resent him dampening that song in any way.

But, yes, I did cry in his office once. I cried after I played him a song I had written about my life called "Because Of You." I cried because he hated it and told me verbatim that I was a "sh*tty writer who should be grateful for the gifts that he bestows upon me." He continued on about how the song didn't rhyme and how I should just shut up and sing. This was devastating coming from a man who I, as a young girl, considered a musical hero and was so honored to work with.
But I continued to fight for the song and the label relented. And it became a worldwide hit. He didn't include that in the book.

He also goes on to say My December wasn't successful because I co-penned the album and it didn't have "pop hits". Well, first let me say, I've co-penned many of my "pop hits." Secondly, My December went platinum (It sold 20,000 less than All I Ever Wanted which followed My December.) Hardly a huge failure. Never Again, the ONLY single they released in the US from that record was a Top 10 hit. I am very proud of that and I have my fans to thank. But, again, what's most interesting about his story is what he leaves out: He doesn't mention how he stood up in front of his company at a convention and belittled me and my music and completely sabotaged the entire project. It never had a chance to reach it's full potential. My December was an album I needed to make for myself for many reasons and the fact that I was so completely disregarded and disrespected was so disheartening, there really aren't words to explain….

Anyway, I love my job. I love my music. I love my fans. I love my label and all of my professional relationships… now. And I am grateful for Clive for teaching me to know the difference.

Cheers to another amazing year! And, as always, thanks for listening!"

So much heat!!

Wonder which side holds the most truth, though! Is it a combo deal here or has Kelly exposed another one of Clive's secrets??

Someone's in denial over My December flopping…

YOU GO KELLY!!! There are two sides to every story, however I feel like I've heard nothing but bad press about Clive and his lies. It seems like most musicians have been in some sort of fued with him and when it doesn't go his way, he will use everything in his powers to try and bring you down.

Good for her! Clive Davis - yes he's a legend - has always come across condescending. He may have a great business mind, and a flare for spotting musical talent, but even the best slip up on some occasions.

Davis has repeatedly attacked the integrity of Clarkson, and she repeatedly doesn't stand for it. It's nice to see some people in the music industry refuse to lie down and let some 'music mogul' walk all over you.

Good for her, and shame on him. She's probably the only talent show winner with REAL talent.

Well done, Kelly Clarkson. I'm rooting for you. I heard about the nonsense Clive Davis has put her through over the years, especially with My December. I took a step back and listened to the album. Truly incredible. It had artistry, it was the real deal. I love that she won't let these big guys belittle her on the world stage. You go Kelly!

Clive Davis is a known bully. Kind of like you Mario

  6. Leigh says – reply to this

Team Kelly! Yeah my December wasn't as big as the cd before it, but it went 3x platinium worldwide. Also Kelly is a straight shooter and has NEVER needed to lie. Ask the industry and they will tell you that Clive didn't care if it meant his label would loss $ he wanted My December to fail.

It says a lot that Davis backed the junkie whore Whitney Houston, but trashes the clean, sober, and profitable Clarkson. Davis is a has-been who's way too full of himself. If we're lucky he'll choke on a cock so we don't have to endure his interviews to promote his book of lies.

Way to go, Kelly! "Because Of You" is a good song and as a fan, I can totally relate too. These people will do anything to sell a book or to make money in general. What a prick this Davis guy is turning out to be. I have no intention of buying his book but I wonder what he has to say about the late/great Whitney Houston. Blog about that, Perez!

Re: light2you – Yeah, Mario the bully pheggott has been refusing posts again, especially the ones that call him out. I don't give a shit if this is his site; he's set himself up as a public figure and invites comments. Only a moral coward and an ethical failure censors comments, and it's done largely because those comments hit close to home. I doubt the stupid homo will allow this to post; he really is a loser.

wow perez i cant believe on a post about how much of an ass clive is youre gonna start off by congratulating him on his open sexuality who gives a flying fuck if hes bi if hes a known bully and asshole? why give him any praise at all millions of people have come out and live their respective lives its not that big of a deal why should him being gay negate the fact that hes a disrespectful, condescending misogynist?

  12. Andy says – reply to this

Funny thing: "Because of You" was a SMASH HIT, specially here in Brazil. The damn song played in EVERY RADIO, even those that don't play international music AT ALL. Yep, Clive is an old dumb hag who doesn't get shit of what audiences want to listen nowadays [retirement please].

  13. emma says – reply to this

Re: kY – What about his Piers Morgan interview how he down played Whitney Houston's voice and claimed Jennifer Hudson was just as good and would be the new Whitney (then Whitney died a few months later during his grammy party) suspicious.

  14. sants says – reply to this

i believe her…Clive Davis is an asshole.

  15. Paul says – reply to this

Well, the only one I believe in this is Kelly. She is one of the few artists out there that is always truthful with her fans about everything. She is the real deal and should not have to be belittled by someone like Clive who is more about money/power than the actual music that is made by the artist. Go Kelly! You are a true inspiration for many people out there to stick up for yourself and your beliefs. The only REAL and true AMERICAN IDOL :)

  16. 16

Looks like everyone is calling b.s. on that jive turkey. This is why people love Kelly. She cares about her music and is so professional. So glad she stood up to him and everyone should. MJ, Mariah Carey, and now Kelly have all called this guy out on his nonsense.

  17. 17

I wish that Clive Davis's generation was the last of misogynistic men but maybe each generation will have less and less. At least with each generation, we have more women who will not back down and will say their truth.

  18. Katharina says – reply to this

Clive davis is an asshole, people like him are ruining the music industry. Good for kelly clarkson for calling the douche bag out.

  19. 19

Good for you, KELLY!!! Clive can eat a big bowl of dicks.

  20. pj88 says – reply to this

I didn't think I could love Kelly anymore.. but I do. I love how she is standing up to that asshole!!! People in the music industry are so afraid of him because he can make or break a career.. but Kelly doesn't need him never did. I lost respect for him years ago, and even more so when he basically brushed Whitney Houston's death off as an "inconvenience". Kelly is such a force and I love how she has no fear and such passion about what she does.. Way to go Kell.. Cool beans!!

  21. 21

Good for her, go Kelly. stand up for your self

  22. HaveAseat says – reply to this

U go kelly, I loved MD..one of your best CDs..

  23. 23

Clive Davis destroyed the music business. I hope he dies soon.

Re: Lol – If platinum is flopping, I'd love to have a flop.

  25. 25

    you go girl…WE LOVE YOU!!!

  26. 26

You go girl!!! Kudos to Kelly for sticking up for the TRUTH, not herself. She obviously remembers everything in great detail… and most people do when they're treated badly or ridiculed. My December is one of the most underrated pop albums, it's my favorite Kelly Clarkson album as well as my friends' favorite. I do remember Clive and Perez bashing the album any chance they got, jerks!

  27. 27

Wow! Go Kelly. She seems like one of the few talented artists that really don't t let it go to their head.

  28. 28

I have been on the fringes of the music biz for 35 years and while he's been responsible for many terrific acts (going back to Janis Joplin and including Aerosmith… he even is mentioned in the song "No Surprise"); stories always abounded about what a complete asshole he was; especially when he didn't get his way. So I do not doubt Kelly's account for a moment. His ego? When the CD was announced as the next new music format, he honestly thought it was a tribute to HIM!!

  29. Rachy says – reply to this

YOU GO KELLY!! I have been a fan ever since American Idol but, even then, she is a straight forward girl & is known to be open & honest. There's no way anybody is buying what he is saying.
Also, I never understood the "failure" that was My December…it was my favorite CD b/c it was edgy & fun. I love it!!

  30. 30

I feel very inclined to believe her. This statement seems to heartfelt to be made up. Plus she's been famous now for 10 years and never gets involved in ANY drama. She's one of an incredibly small group of celebrities you never hear about outside of their craft, and I think that speaks volumes to who she is as a person. In all the years I've followed her career I've never heard her talk bad about others and the paparazzi seem to leave her alone because she actually has no dirt to report. With solid fame, and a hit single from almost every track she's ever put out, I can't fathom a reason she would make this up.
I've said several times and I'll say it again. Kelly is a perfect example of what we should keep reality talent competitions like American Idol. It's rare but every now and then you find someone so real, so genuine, so unbelievably talented like her - that it's almost terrifying to think that but for AI we might never have been exposed to her incredible voice. I'm not sure what Clive is talking about, I think Kelly is an amazing songwriter, and according to the charts, so does everyone else!

  31. xoan says – reply to this

Of course, Kelly's right! Clive might be the man behind others' success, but he ain't infront. So, a tabloid like this would make his memoir…*cough* fake book *cough*…more famous. I know, Kelly's honest, after years of knowing her.

  32. 32

Good for Kelly. I am so glad she's telling this lying piece of crap the real truth, not some demented aged truth. She should also take to task the messenger of these lies and teach him (yes Perez…you) a lesson. At the time, I remember the hatchet job you did on Kelly and thought, "it's like this guy is on Davis' payroll". It was uncalled for, because that CD was fantastic. You and Clive deserve each other. Enjoy your time on earth because where you are going after this is none too pleasant.

  33. 33

Re: SashaSkye – the only time you hear anything negative is when Perez takes his hatchet to criticize her weight or music. I believe her.

  34. Oops says – reply to this

I'm thinking that this would have died down had she not commented. Now she is forcing those in the industry to take sides. Clive still has a lot of power and you need to pick your battles.

  35. Anni says – reply to this

I think it's so weird when everybody said that My December isn't that good album because personally I think it's the best album Kelly Clarkson has ever done.

  36. 36

Kelly Clarkson always speaks her mind and the truth. I believe every word Kelly said. Clive is trying to sell his lame book and is using Kelly to do it. My December was amazing. I am so grateful that Kelly fought for this album or we would not have the incredible masterpieces that are "Irvine", "Sober", and "Chivas". I love all of Kelly's albums, but MD is special because it meant so much to her. Clive treated her like a nothing that had no right to disagree with him. She showed him. haha. Clarkson rocks!!!

  37. LINCOLN PARK says – reply to this

I absolutely ADORE Kelly Clarkson. I was so proud of her singing on Obama's Inauguration Day; and I'm equally as proud of her for tastefully refuting the words of an industry powerhouse. Note that she never trashed him, personally. That speaks well for her character and sadly, good character is increasingly hard to find, these days. Count me in on TEAM KELLY!
