Michael Moore BLASTS LAX Immigration For Detaining Oscar Nominated Palestinian Filmmaker!!!

What an unfortunate example of American airport culture!!!
Opinionated documentary creator Michael Moore got SUPER DUPER pissed when he found out that his friend — the Oscar nominated Palestinan filmmaker Emad Burnat — had been DETAINED by LAX immigration because they did not believe he was actually in town for the Oscars!!
Emad, his wife, and their 8-year-old son were held at LAX for over an hour before FINALLY getting "permission" to stay in the country until the Oscars were over.
Yeesh.
Michael Moore tweeted EVERYTHING about the incident (his version of events), which we've collected for your reading convenience!!

"Emad Burnat, Palestinian director of Oscar nominated "5 Broken Cameras" was held tonight by immigration at LAX as he landed to attend Oscars
Emad, his wife & 8-yr old son were placed in a holding area and told they didn't have the proper invitation on them to attend the Oscars.
Although he produced the Oscar invite nominees receive, that wasn't good enough & he was threatened with being sent back to Palestine.
Apparently the Immigration & Customs officers couldn't understand how a Palestinian could be an Oscar nominee. Emad texted me for help.
I called Academy officials who called lawyers. I told Emad to give the officers my phone # and to say my name a couple of times.
After 1.5 hrs, they decided to release him & his family & told him he could stay in LA for the week & go to the Oscars. Welcome to America.
"It's nothing I'm not already used to," he told me later. "When u live under occupation, with no rights, this is a daily occurrence."
Emad Burnat, Palestinian farmer turned filmmaker, director of "5 Broken Cameras", the 1st Palestinian doc ever nominated for the Oscar.
This all just happened tonight, a few hours ago. He was certain they were going to deport him. But not if I had anything to do about it."

I can't imagine Burnat thinking anything of it. Ask him how many hours he was detained while leaving what the israelians think is Israel (or atleast how long he's usually detained, might be that he was treated nicely this time around now he's a more public figure) I think that'll set it all in perspective. He's used to it. The constant reminder for the palestinians that they aren't full worthy people who you treat with respect is always there.
Watch the movie! it's great.
This story saddens me but sadly doesn't surprise me.
Yep, the hosts with the mosts. The fifteen dollar an hour guys rule the roost.
Re: Maria – You've got it, Maria. Now keep spreading the word so our citizens will wake up and stop funding this Occupation to the tune of $3 billion of borrowed taxpayer money every year!
Just one more example of the undue influence Israel exerts on our government and our society. Even Bill Maher, a Netanyahu disciple if there ever was one, finally gets it! (Watch the current Bill Maher show [from last week]to see what I mean).
Oh, and one more thing (since I may have a few people's attention). Let's look at the Hagel hearings to see what undue influence the Israel and its lobby is exerting - in this case, at the highest levels of our government. Hagel is being fought tooth and nail by the lobby's 'agents' in Congress because he dared put US interests above Israel's and spoke about engaging Iran, which would potentially destroy any chance of getting our government to attack as Israel desperately wants us to do. If you have any doubts, look at the testimony and notice that the number of questions about Israel was greater than the total of all other questions about Afghanistan, China and all the other major international issues facing our country with which our Defense Secretary will have to deal in the coming years!
What a shame for the US!
