    They had no idea where the money came from and frankly the issue is with the officials who used those funds in the first place. Actually what this really says is the the $$ was taken in support of the entire festival. Many of these countries are in shambles because of the decisions their officials make. It's unfortunate.

    This is a crock. When someone pays you for a service do you absolutely know where the money is coming from? If so, How do you know???? Does it help you sleep better to know taht you hold celebrities to a higher standard than you hold yourself. Must be nice.

    Bey and Jay are despicable! They have no sense of social responsibility, for all they care about is money and fame. They open clubs and play concerts in the hood instead of really fighting poverty and helping to educate the youth. Mr. Harry Belafonte was right about these two dumb fools!

    Celebrities make more than enough money to pay their own way to a country for any type of charitable event. Whether they knew where the money came from or not, it disgusts me that they went there only because the trip was paid for. If it was a cause that meant something to them or one they felt was important, they could damn well pay for the trip themselves. Celebrities make way more money than they deserve. Doctors, police officers, firemen make less money and they save lives.

    Re: icu – 'Annoyed' is a better term. I just saw Jay Z at Barclays Center here in Brooklyn with not a care in the world about issues that really matter. He and his wife have so much power and influence that it annoys me that they would abuse a third world country where their ancestors probably came from– chained and beaten. This story is sickening.

    How would they know where the funds came from. They were responsible for providing a service, which they did. Then they were paid. How ridiculous to insinuate that they know the fiscal workings of another country.

    Lets be real meaning let us be honest without being bias meaning not being a hater or fan. The problem is not with Bey and Jay at all. The problem is with the governor. First of all why would you even take money to get these celebrities instead of taking care of what is important? Second of all Bey and Jay most likely did not know where this money was coming from and if they did they wouldn't have accepted this money. Honestly who checks where people are getting the funds to pay them to make an appearance at this event. One thing I know is that they would not take money that is meant to help the people in poverty. So you have to look at this situation rationally. Bey and Jay obviously did not know where this money was coming from and the problem is not with them its with the governor. The only smart thing to do is to ask Bey and Jay to give back the money. Point Blank Period. Also last time I checked there was no where in this article that said this wasa charitable event it was a festival where Beyonce performed. People you need to start thinking rational and stop thinking with hate.

    Re: shaygirl1309 – They didnt steal anything. Did you read the article because im pretty sure it said the GOVERNOR took money from important funds to pay them. Which means the GOVERNOR stole money from other funds to pay them. The GOVERNOR stole the money but Bey and Jay did not. Yes they were paid with that money but they did not steal it. This situation is like a child stealing money from his mom's purse and buying something from his friend or a store. Does the friend or the store know the child stole the money? No they don't. Does that mean that they stole from the mom too? No it doesnt. The problem is 100% with the GOVERNOR not Bey and Jay. The only thing that should be asked of Bey and Jay is to give back the money.

You forgot the fact that everybody that performed either gave back the money or donated it. Stop trying to drag her name through the dirt.     People need to stop with the BS. The problem is not with Beyonce and Jay-Z at all, the problem is with the Governor. We all know Beyonce and Jay-Z did not know where the money came from. All this talk of them stealing is voided because they obviously did not steal anything. The Governor stole the money from other funds and payed them which is not stealing on their part but it is on the governor's part. All the other little comments talking about they should have done it for free is BS, they are entertainers and this event was not a charitable event, it was a music festival so if you want somebody to make an appearance or perform there is a fee. Now if it was something like an actual event that was for charity than yes it should be done for free. Also you can't call this lady greedy if she been performing at many events for the past couple of months for free. Also yes Beyonce did perform for the African dictator but Mariah Carey and Usher did too. It shouldnt make her, Mariah Carey or Usher evil at all it was a mistake. Plus all of them gave back the money or donated it. At the end of day these little comments are not from rational thinking but from hatred for this lady and jealousy.

    Reading is fundamental people: This was not a charity event and they didn't know what fund the money came from - neither did any of the other artists who appeared. This is just more of PH's brand of headline grabbing nonesense. Of course there are those that simply troll the site to make snide remarks under the guise of being "deep" and "profound" — telling that the attempt would be made here of all places!
