After its quick and sudden death by Sony, The Interview has been given new life.
Free speech for the WIN!
Of course, not every theater is willing to show the movie.
So the major question is WHERE can U see it??
Before Midnight star Ethan Hawke recently expressed his distaste for the way movies are evaluated in America, and called box office gross reports and movie award shows "asinine" and "destructive!"
"People want to turn everything in this country into a competition… [so] it’s clear who the winner is and who the loser is. It’s why they like to announce the grosses of movies, because it’s a way of saying, ‘This one is No. 1.’ It’s so asinine… if you look at how many forgettable, stupid movies have won Oscars and how many mediocre performers have Oscars above their fireplace. Making a priority of chasing these fake carrots and money and dubious accolades, I think it’s really destructive."
Well, he's got a point!
And just think about how much these Hollywood masturbation spectacles COST to construct! It's definitely NOT cheap… the gift bags alone are usually worth THOUSANDS!
But without shows like the Oscars, how will we know WHO is good and who totally SUX?! Will we have to simply judge for OURSELVES?! LOLzzz.
Seriously though, without the golden Os we would totally miss out on AWEsome events like a mega-musicals tribute!
Not to mention all the HIGHlariously awkward moments…
What do U think readers? Do U think award shows like the Oscars are destructive?
