Barbra Streisand Brings Her Misty Water-Colored Memories To The 2013 Oscars!

| Filed under: Music MinuteBarbra StreisandOscars

Tonight, for the first time in 36 years, Barbra Streisand has made her return to the Oscars stage!

During the show’s In Memoriam segment, Babs flawlessly performed her timeless classic, Memories, and it was all we could’ve asked for and MORE!

After they showed the segment, Barbra gave a touching tribute to her beloved friend, Marvin Hamlisch, who composed The Way We Were.

Check out Barbra’s Oscar-worthy performance (above)!!!

Could there have been a more fitting song?!

The last time Mz. Streisand took the stage at the Oscars was back in 1977, when she sang her Best Song-winning track, Evergreen, from A Star Is Born!

We hope she never makes us wait that long again!!!

It's called "The Way We Were", not Memories. Memories is from Cats. The Way We Were is from The Way We Were. Not the same song.

  2. 2

ARE YOU KIDDING…HER VOICE CRACKED SEVERAL TIMES I WOULD NOT SAY FLAWLESS….GOOD FOR A JEW

It was great to see her! We got hear what a real singer sounds like !
But am I the only one who thought she looked like a older version of Jennifer Anniston, with that straight hairstyle?

Pez you been drinkin? NOT Memories and crap she should have stayed retired! She was straining all those oreos and cheetos have affected her voice. Go YouTube her old songs –there you will find flawless Streisand!

Who wrote that review of Babs singing at the Oscar's ? She sucked.
The old lady has lost her voice. She is such a perfectionist I am surprised she put
herself out there to sing. Unless she is also tone deaf now…..

Take your hateful anti-semitism elsewhere. I'm so fucking sick and tired of the "Jew" comments.

    Barbra looked stunning!!! Love you!

Not our Barbra! It was obvious she lip synced. After Beyonce-gate, singers have caught on and now record tracks that have elements that make them seem like they are singing live. A slightly sharp note here, a small voice crack there, say a few words… but WE STILL DON'T BUY IT! Like the time she was ready to cut a note short but it continued in the track so she had to 'throw in some extra hold-out'. Come on seasoned singers, back me up, you know it's true.

she sounds great FOR HER AGE. but she's clearly not the singer of 30 years ago. she just doesn't have the power anymore. but she looks good and sounds ok too.

I thought she sang beautifully, and I really listened to the lyrics. I found them very touching. and they evoked my own memories while I listened. I'm sorry the audience was not shown. Judging from the power of the applause, she got a standing ovation.

Wow I loved Barbra Streisands performance I know it was emotional for her, back in the day they her the best thing around. Barbra will always be the best, along with Barry Manilow.

Barbra is so perfect. She is so glamorous and so beautiful, and her music is always way beyond the best and comes straight from her soul. Without Barbra and Jack Jack Nicholson, the Oscars this year would have been kinda dull and mediocre. But fortunately listening to Ms. Streisand sing made the show truly awesome and memorable. WE LOVE YOU BARBRA!!!!

Not impressed at all! She was ok, but it was NOTHING like how she used to be! Uh, a voice coach could do wonders!

Barbra Streisand has been amazing since she was very young… to get up there and give the performance she gave at the age of 70 is the sweetest dedication she could have made to her good friend Marvin Hamlisch.

Reading some of the comments, I sit back and wonder who made these people listen if they didn't like it… what have they done that allows them to criticize someone like Ms. Streisand who has accomplished more than anyone who posts here could achieve in ten lifetimes. — Thank you, Barbra, for being able to bring an auditorium of Oscar nominees and winners to their feet!

Well Done! why must we even mention the fact she is Jewish? She is an icon and has shown over and over she can sing…unlike the Britney Spears of today.

Barbra was glorious. She looked and sounded beautiful. It was a very emotional moment for her. She handled it with class. To her detractors: GFY's.

I thought Streisand was going to break out in tears. No matter how many times she has performed "The Way We Were", to perform it to memorialize someone she had been so close with and worked with for so many years must have been hard.

  27. 27

The fucking song is called The Way We Were. Any gay man worth his weight in gold knows that. How dare you call yourself a Streisand fan.

"THE WAY WE WERE" IS THE NAME OF THE SONG. NOT "MEMORIES" GET YOUR JOURNALISM CRAP TOGETHER. OMG. IT'S BEEN TOLD ON HERE OVER AND OVER AGAIN. IT'S SO DISRESPECTFUL TO THE WRITER OF THE SONG, AND IT SHOWS ARROGANCE AND IGNORANCE NOT TO CORRECT IT.

Barbra: Remembering the memories your brought me the first time you recorded this song and now rendering the heart of joy from hearing the passion of years hearing the second rendition of this song, I believe you to be one of the greatest singers of my life-time. This generational version of this song truly demonstrated the beauty of life for those of us enduring the years with you. Thank you for allowing us to sharing bits and pieces of that journes with you - if only vicariously thru the vision of hearing the tones of God's gift to you. Thank you for sharing with us. Please consider that although your voice may have gone down a few notes in tone abilities: two things: first: our ears are softers as are our hearts and 2. our ages have gone up in decades and we don't care what the children say (we taught them well) ; but we want to hear you !!!. Sing for us - Please!!!!

I am appauled that you did not mention Shirley Bassey, whose voice and performance could only be equaled by Jennifer Hudson.

    34

Something about Barbra's aura just grabs you from the moment she's on stage. Streisand gave a beautiful and burnished performance of "The Way We Were" with a perfect vibrato and tone to her mature, but still golden voice. She didn't have to shriek or yell or shout to get the point of the song and the tribute across to the audience. She's the last of her kind!
