But we were surprised that the most outrageous part of tonight's opening was the incredible length!!

Not funny, for the first year in I cannot remember how many years I did not watch the Oscars, and I have been watching them since Bob Hope and Johnny Carson hosted (yes I am that old!). Academy needs to bring back serious comedians and stop trying to cater to
the younger audience, they will either watch or not.
I'm really surprised at your reaction. I always watch the Oscars and while I do find some things in the monologues funny, this is the first time I have ever laughed out loud at anything and my belly hurt by the time it was over. I thought it was hilarious. Not to mention, Seth has an incredible speaking and singing voice.
So far ,it's pretty painful and boring
Seth didn't do so well. It went on forever and Tommy Lee lost. It's so far not been a great night.
This is the first time that I ever truly laughed during the opening of the Oscars. Seth did an amazing job. I didn't even notice how long it was which is a good sign.

Did a great job! actually made the oscars worth watching, after all no one can do a worse job than Anne hatheway and James franco, that was absolutely brutal. Really proud of Seth, coming from writing cartoons like Johnny Bravo to making hit tv shows like family guy, to making a great comedy film (TED), now he's on one of the biggest stages doing an excellent job hosting

Seth MacFarlane did the best he could with what was permissible. Sure, the jokes weren't side-splittingly funny, but they were better than your average awards show. I agree the entirelty of the monolgue was too long with Shatner, the singing and dancing. However, I doubt that was Seth's idea.
I actually thought it was quite funny, wasn't a huge fan of Shatner, but the rest I enjoyed!

The Oscars are usually very dry and serious and truthfully, I'm 42 y.o. I stopped watching that years ago, but when I heard Seth was hosting the Oscars I watched the entire show. This man is such a genius, smart, funny, talented. I liked that he did pay tribute to some old classics by singing and dancing. I am a woman and I found the "I saw your boobs song" simply hilarious. I am a treky so I loved the Capt Kirk skits. For those of you who were offended, he is a comedian and most do something called make jokes!
