Wow! It is a GOOD day to be Quvenzhane Wallis!
The adorable nine-year-old actress is not only up for "Best Actress" at the 2013 Oscars this evening, but she has also been officially CONFIRMED for the title role in the upcoming remake of Annie, set to be directed by Will Gluck, with Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, James Lassiter, Ty Ty Smith, Jay Brown, and of course, Jay-Z serving as the producers!
As we've already reported, the lengthy period of pre-production, which is said to be so the Easy A director can revise the screenplay's previous drafts from both Aline Brosh McKenna and Emma Thompson, ultimately caused original starlet Willow Smith to bounce off and be a normal 12-year-old!
But honestly, we think that this could be a blessing in disguise!
Willow would have obviously been FANTASTIC in the part, but having seen Quvenzhane in Beasts of the Southern Wild, we are MORE than confident that this supremely talented young lady is going to bring a whole NEW dimension to the classic musical's upcoming contemporary setting!
Congratulations! We couldn't be more thrilled for you!
What do U think?? Are U excited to see Quvenzhane as Annie?!
