Welly well well!

It seems the Suit & Tie donning Justin Timberlake has found inspiration in the epic sounds of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and Bob Dylan!

The Mirrors singer recently revealed that his upcoming album The 20/20 Experience is heavily influenced by the aforementioned music gods, and defends some of his more lengthy new tunes, claiming that if Led Zeppelin can have ten minute songs, so can he.

PREACH!

JT expressed:

"When we were making the record I said, 'If Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin can do 10-minute songs and Queen can do 10-minute songs then why can't we?' We'll figure out the radio edits later.”

He also explained how Bob Dylan played into the album's recording process, sharing:

”Music is for dreamers. You should be able to create another world that you can live in. I'm not gonna speak for Bob Dylan - he's one of my idols - but from my perspective, as a fan, it seems to me that he started creating music that made him feel like another person and that's what it should do. [The studio] really is one place that you can still go to that you can be completely free. You can lock yourself in a room and make a whole other world.”

Oh how we want to be paaaaaart of youuurrrrr wooorrrrlllllldddd Justin!

But obviously that world is reserved for the likes of Jay-Z and the lovely Jessica Biel!

And apparently the spirits of rock gods.

VERY intrigued to hear the whole of The 20/20 Experience, especially to find out just HOW MUCH JT's icons influenced his music!

Led Zeppelin and Pink Flloyd could have 10 minute songs because they had TALENT, and they weren't some pretentious boy-bander douche who got only for famous as a solo artist off an ex-girlfriend who you wrote a song about to embarrass her.

I never know how to take it when people compare themselves to the greats. Is it complimentary, or is it that they think they are in the same league? I see JT being more about image than music - he does not seem to have much in common with Pink Floyd, Queen, or Bob Dylan.

I bet nothing will sound anything like the greats. You can't compare yourself to a band like Queen, Pink Floyd, or Zeppelin. They were trend setters.

I really wish people just stopped overtly condenming Justin…he isn't directly comparing himself…he comments on their untouchable greatness and is simply saying that he borrows from their epic song structure and wishes to simply gain a fragment of their glory

Gosh, people are so close-minded. He never said that his music sounds like Pink Floyd or the like. If you read the article you would know that he only was inspired to do songs that are longer than the usual 3 - 4 minutes and more like 10 minutes long.
And to be fair: Justin Timberlake has more talent and the compositions are far more mature than the majority of pop singers are today. His music, especially what people could hear from the new album so far, is pretty sophisticated. That includes his Single "Mirrors" and the live performed "Pusher Love Girl". It's okay to have a different taste in music, but insulting his music is pretty unfair, cause he's among the most talented singers.
And no, I'm not a screaming teenage girl, I'm a 23 year old male University student. And yes I do appreciate bands like Pink Floyd and know most of their songs. Nothing wrong with liking them AND Timberlake ;)
