Dude Building Titanic 2 Confused Why People Think It's A Bad Idea!

| Filed under: Wacky, Tacky & TrueEtc.

titanic 2 bad idea tribute ship replica authentic

We can think of 1,502 reasons as to why building a close replica and naming a ship the Titanic 2 is a bad idea — and not just in bad taste.

Those lives lost deserve much more than a gimmick boat named after the poorly planned ship that killed them!

Clive Palmer, the guy building the thing, disagrees and says the replica will look and feel just like the original Titanic… out of respect! Here's what he says:

“The area [for] passengers will be authentic, with the same design and facilities. But there will be modern things such as air conditioning and other features we are debating — such as Internet on the ship. [It's a] tribute to the spirit of the men and women who worked on the original Titanic.”

Barf.

Still, they're claiming 40,000 have expressed interest in a re-enactment of the fateful journey — up until a point, of course — which will repeat the original course from Southampton, England, to New York.

Like we said, we feel like this has less to do with being a tribute than it does with being a gimmick, and we find it wildly uncomfortable and borderline offensive!

Plus, the superstitious side of us really hope nothing awful happens again! If it does, let's hope they have wider doors so Jack can fit too!

LOLz!

Someone should forward this posting. That was offensive to overweight people.
    Not cool Perez

Re: tempe – I agree Perez is an idiot, but I think he was referring to the fact that in the movie Titanic, Jack couldn't fit on the floating door with Rose (and so he subsequently froze to death in the cold water…).

    Re: smogg
Exactly and Perez is refering to the guy who is obviously overweight. Imagine anyone else making a fat joke..oh wait. Just this past week Perez posted several stories involving overweight people that were called fat etc.
He should retract that last comment.

That was one of the biggest grossing movies of all time. How else do you expect them make a sequel???

    Re: tempe

You are an idiot and have obviously never seen the movie Titanic. Perez was referring to the part in the movie were Jack (Leonardo Dicaprio) freezes to death because the door isn't wide enough for both Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet to both float on after the ship sinks. His statement was not at all intended to be a fat joke. It's a classic part of the movie. The person building the Titanic 2 isn't even named Jack, it's Clive. God, America is really turning into an idiocracy.

Re: STAYOFFLINEDUMMY – in other words it's a backhanded dig he can use that excuse to fall back on. He'll always be a hypocritical pig!

How about this sinking Titanic Hotel Boat in Liverpool?!

I disagree. I think this is a great idea! First, this is a new ship with modern technology! Yes it may look like the first Titanic, but it is designed not to sink! This is the 21st century! Ships from this erea do not and will not sink. Stop living in the past! Look to the future! The only thing that maybe wrong is that if this new Titanic has artifacts from the original, it could be haunted! Reason being is because ghosts connected to their prized processions. Many people who have visited Titanic exhibits in the past with these artifacts have reported paranormal experiences. This could make this new Titanic a paranormal hot spot.

Re: Lisa – I'm quite certain the 32 people that died when a cruise ship sunk in Italy last year would disagree with this statement…

i think its a good idea they should at least have a memorial on the ship something like having every ones name who died put there names around the top of the grand stair case or something like that if clive never agreed to build the ship someone ells at some point would have built it there's no stopping it

  14. 14

For you uneducated morons out there, the new Titanic will be equipped with radar.
So there will be no repeat of the 1912 disaster.

A great idea. I have wanted to see a second Titanic built and used as a liner for years. I think it is the most beautiful ship ever built. Rule Britannia!

  16. 16

calm yo tits! i didn't think it was offensive! i thought he meant a door big enough for two bodies and not because one was too fat to let the other on. Wouldn't that be worded differently like 'hope the doors are built stronger?' Geez people. Anyways, back to my original problem with this…it's idiotic and i don't see it as a tribute or whatever he said. People are already stupid enough to not know about the first one and now this dude wants to confuse those people further with another one? Did anyone else lose faith in humanity with all those comments around the internet about people not knowing the movie with Leo and Kate was based on true events?

I think they should do one trip from London to NYC then dock it there as a museum/hotel.

Re: Lisa – "Ship from this era (I assume you mean the 21st century) do not and will not sink" Isn't that exactly what they said in 1912? So, let's see, Costa Concrodia, Herald of Free Enterprise, Explorer… those are just off the top of my head.
