Taylor Swift Defends Her Personal Song Writing Style & Says WHAT About Tina Fey?!

Slap some foot cream on our faces and feed us Swedish weight-gain bars…

Is Taylor Swift calling Tina Fey a MEAN GIRL?!

Lady Tay is apparently OVER people talking about her romantic relationships and the way they influence her song writing style, AND she's got some choice words for certain "mean girls"…

A group that seems to include our beloved Tina Fey and Amy Poehler!

In a recent interview, the crimson-lipped cutie discussed her feelings on "mean girls," while responding to Tina and Amy's playful Golden Globes jab about her love life.

Swifty BLASTED:

"You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved, that said, 'There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.'"

UMMMMM whaaaaaaaaatttttt?

That is a HARSH quote regarding ANY situation! Why would Taylor be proud of such hateful words?! And is she REALLY suggesting that Tina and Amy's comments were so "non-supportive" that their souls should suffer eternal hellfire?

Hmmm.

In the interview, Taylor also defended her sometimes criticized style of personal song-writing, expressing:

"For a female to write about her feelings, and then be portrayed as some clingy, insane, desperate girlfriend in need of making you marry her and have kids with her, I think that’s taking something that potentially should be celebrated—a woman writing about her feelings in a confessional way—that’s taking it and turning it and twisting it into something that is frankly a little sexist."

Now THAT we can totally agree with!

Songs that come from the heart and that draw from one's own experiences are generally FAR more enjoyable, purely because they are HONEST, and people can actually RELATE to those types of tunes!

Love IS a universal emotion, after all!

Taylor needs to learn how to laugh at herself.

  2. 2

Taylor Swift is the least feminist person I've ever heard of. She slut shames anyone who likes to wear heels or short skirts and victimizes them, reading this makes me laugh

  3. 3

If she writes songs and makes money off of dating a guy for a few months, and then acting like its a great love affair, you have to be open to criticism.

I don't listen to Taylor Swifts music, well because I'm not a teenaged girl and because I generally don't listen to the radio but always thought she SEEMED like a nice down to earth type of girl. But perhaps the fame is getting to her head as lately she seems kind of vindictive and seems to be trying hard to be sultry. Comedians should be able to make fun of whomever they want, as long as it doesn't go overborad and I don't think Tina or Amy were disrespectful of her. So there goes my perception of Taylor Swift.

Swifty needs to get over herself, she's not a feminist. She's an immature idiot who seems to can't handle being single.

Taylor Swift is a bitch. I've been trying to tell people this for years now. Open your eyes and ears and you'll see.
If she didn't want people to make fun of her, she should've have been so open about her serial dating.
She's a clingy, little girl that needs a reality check.

  10. 10

I have to agree with Sarah. Open your eyes and see this girl for what she really is. she is not some wholesome girl. She's an immature Ho bag.

The jokes not funny when it inaccurately calls her out for being loose when low and behold the tabloid fodder was incorrect and she wasn;t dating the 4654463 guys the media pulled out from a hat.

  12. SouthernJezebel says – reply to this

    12

Poor Taylor. But her saying this just proves how young and immature she is. Tina and Amy only said she needs to work on herself a while before dating. TRUE. Oh and here's another tip, Taylor. When you're 22 don't expect your true love to be only 18. You're a girl. We all know girls mature faster than boys. You're dating someone with a maturity level of a 15 year old girl.

She is really a psychopath. She needs help! She's screwed her way through Hollywood, made a mint off of the songs from the breakups, and doesn't thing anyone should comment on it? Get a grip.

  14. 14

Bitch you better sit down. Back off. Do NOT mess w/the amazingness that is Tina Fey. Taylor sure can dish it, but definitely CANNOT take it!!!

  15. 15

Her words are prime example of how delusional she truly is. She's not feminist in the slightest. Gimme a break.

  25. keh04g says – reply to this

    25

Yeah, Perez, as has been pointed out, that is a really famous Madeline Allbright quote and it's actually the opposite of hateful. It's meant to say all women should have each other's backs and unite in feminism instead of reducing themselves to pettily attacking one another. I understand that there's a huge debate over whether Taylor is feminist or misogynistic and everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I think whatever she does and says, her heart has always been in the right place. And it is true that Amy and Tina are comedians and Taylor should learn to take her knocks, but she does have a point that Tina is being a hypocrite. Hell, she literally wrote the book on Mean Girls, and then she goes and does it to someone else who is probably exactly as clueless at 22 as Tina herself was then. I think Tina can come off as a bit abbrasive sometimes, and I think that's her defense mechanism against Hollywood and trying to be taken seriously as a writer and a comedian, both industries dominated by men. Regardless, yes Taylor should get a thicker skin, but I get why it upset her coming from someone she probably viewed as a feminist ally and role model. It was slut shaming, no doubt. And yes, Taylor is guilty of that herself. It's rampant in our culture and it needs to stop. The difference is Taylor is an emotional kid and Tina Fey is a highly educated adult mother of two little girls and should know better. She went for the cheap laugh and she got it.

Re: keh04g – Here's the problem with this statement. It's not about feminism. It's about overall equality. Tina Fay took digs at EVERYONE that night including Kathryn Bigelow, James Cameron, Quintin Tarentino, etc. And the comments she made about Quintin were MUCH worse. What I don't get is that it's ok for the boys club at an awards show to rag on the boys but girls are always talking like they wanted to be treated equally. Well fine to be completely equal you should recognize that NO ONE is above reproach and comedic material. If you live your life in the public, then of course you're going to be talked about and made fun of. Men have to go through the same thing. So why when it's Taylor Swift does she feel some kind of way when EVERYONE is made fun of at an awards show? Don't GO then! The problem with Ricky Gervais hosting was that EVERYONE had a problem with what he was saying to EVERYONE. That's reasonable. But Taylor Swift didn't give a damn about anyone else Tina Fey and Amy Poehler talked about just her, even though they DIDN'T LIE or call her out her name or say anything crazy.

Are they harsh words? Yes, but with as much crap as Taylor gets thrown at her she should be able to return the crap and stand up for herself.

  31. 31

Taylor Swift is a whore. She goes through men like crazy.

  32. 32

What? Tina and Amy weren't even attacking her songwriting they were attacking the fact that she can't go 5 seconds without a man. How dare she suggest that they are the ones being sexist? Tina and Amy have done more for women than she ever has done and ever will do. Taylor has major issues. Take a goddamn joke everyone else could.

  33. 33

What a weak bitch. Taylor should get over it. I wouldn't mess with Tina Fey or Amy Poehler…Look what happened to Sarah Pailn.

  34. 34

She is legit crazy and she should not flatter herself by thinking that just because Tina and Amy made a joke about her she is worth their time. She is not worth their time this proves it. And I must say it is extremely immature of her to name Katie in all this. It has nothing to do with her. Katie shared something with her privately and she takes it public? That is so wrong. That puts Katie in an awkward position with Tina and Amy. Taylor is just dumb and rude she doesn't think stuff like that through.

    36

If she doesn't want people to comment then she should stop writing songs about her love life. When she puts that out there then some will give her awards and buy her music and some will make comments and jokes. She can't just pick and choose the type of commentary she gets. Frankly, she needs to stay away from trying to engage Tina Fey because she will be obliterated.

  37. 37

I think Tina saying Taylor needs to take some time to herself is a form of help.

  38. stella says – reply to this

    38

Not a fan of Taylor but Tina Fey was mean say what she did about Taylor when Taylor was at an awards ceremony as a nominee. Taylor is not very mature for a 23 year old when it comes to relationships but boys who date her know her history and she writes mostly for young people and not for adults. The public is too critical of Taylor IMO. It's no reason to hate on Taylor because she isn't experienced yet in intimacy.

  39. Jessica says – reply to this

    39

Oh, Taylor. It's a good thing you don't have to worry about them mean girls and their special place in hell because you will be far away from them right in the middle of hell for having premarital relations. If you're going to believe in a place called hell and what it feeds itself, also keep in mind you will be a part of it. Just when you think this woman can't get more idiotic….

While I also like Tina Fey, the people that need to wake up to themselves are ones such as Rihanna who's gone back to a man that bashed her. Taylor's gone out with a few men - that's all! Anyone would think the haters have never had a boyfriend/girlfriend before….

Blah, blah, blah. Writing about your 'feelings' if it dishes on your exes is kissing and telling.
If you kiss and tell, you won't do well…and it doesn't matter if it's in a song. Same thing.
There are a million other things one can write about.

Whenever she experiences a little bit of pain or heartache in her personal life, she'll immediately point the finger at anyone but herself. She doesn't have the balls to say what she thinks of other people to their faces so goes so has to go and broadcast it to the world via the media. What a sad little mongrel she's turning into.

  44. giin says – reply to this

    44

    Re: RubyM
Chris Brown deserved a good beating in the media. Rihanna defends him if only to prevent other people from abusing him.
Taylor Swift shames her exe's in the media because they didn't declare their undying love for her in the media and because she went through all that trouble of setting up the photo op's that smothered her dalliance with harry and it was a waste of time. she wanted the whole world to know she was going out with harry styles, organised the swarms of paparazzi who followed them everywhere, sold her ass to the press and now it's completely backfired on her.

Rihanna had every reason to destroy Chris Brown in the media. Did she do it? She knew she could have but she was more concerned about people hating on him even though he clearly deserved it. Rihanna still loves Chris obviously but it would have been difficult for her to resist slating him in the media. Taylor clearly still isn't over Harry considering how she has now resorted to recruiting faceless, nameless sources to put across her version of events which IMHO are complete figments of her imagination. Perhaps Taylor would like to be punched in the face repeatedly and perhaps discover what real pain feels like. Then she'll have something to complain about.

Fuck you, Taylor Swift!!! Amy Poehler was just pointing out , how you and your actions really are like. It was no slander, it was well deserved criticism. If you want something else to be said about you, then just don`t behave in such a wrong and evil way. It`s obvious, that you are just using a lot of guys for your songs. Most of them you probably never loved. You just wanted to be with them to have new ideas for your stupid songs. And now your getting what you deserve for it, so deal with it and fuck off!

You're talking about a single line from one song of hers which wasn't 'slut-shaming' at all. It was just to create contrast between introverted tomboyish girl and a 'normal' girl.

Hopefully you'll catch in that everyone's turning on you and you might as well just give up now.

What's sexist is her need for some sort of solidarity from one particular gender (supposedly in response to the other gender). To feel the need to be emotionally babied by other members of the biz because you're a heartbroken female- in such a way that they shouldn't exercise free expression- is the product of sexist upbringing and culture.

Maybe Katie Couric quote was referring to Taylor herself.

Taylor is obviously trying to pull another per-Britney-I-am-still-a-virgin Spears stunt.

ya'll leave taylor alone she's not a whore or other bad stuff. she said that if she can write songs about her boyfriends, they can write about her, and besides, it's not like everyone just met the first guy they saw and fell in love with them, everyone has or will have heartbreak. just cause Tina Fey is a comedian dosen't mean that it's not mean. There's a difference between mean and funny. If you people don't understand that, then YOU people are the immatures, the whores, and the other things. What you do comes right back at you.
