X Factor Season One Winner Melanie Amaro Dropped From Epic Records?

Oh no! This makes us super sad!
X Factor’s season three auditions kicked off today in El Lay, but where has season one winner, Melanie Amaro, been??
Unfortunately, it looks as though Mel’s been dropped from Epic Records, though no official confirmation has been made.
The label previously tried to release three different singles — and even had her perform Long Distance on XF this season — but none of them gained any traction.
It also seems that her debut album, Truly, was supposed to drop last year but has since been given a release date of December 31st, 2013!
Not only that, but on Epic’s website, she is no longer listed on the artist roster page… and neither is her fellow XF season one alum, Astro, which can't be a good sign.
Season one’s Chris Rene and Marcus Canty, however, remain on the artist roster page, and so does season two’s girl group, Fifth Harmony.
We think it’s a total shame if Epic really did drop Melanie, seeing as she has SO much talent and such a remarkable voice! Unfortunately, it seems as though not enough support was put behind her in the long-run.
Perhaps they could've done some rebranding??
We wish Melanie the best of luck in the future, though, no matter what the outcome!

Good! I got a story about her for you guys. My friend was able to go to the superbowl two years ago when her Pepsi commercial debuted, and she was in the private suite area. She had just won the show and she was a big diva. She told her she voted for her and that she was a big fan and her response was a simple 'thanks!' and after she took a pic with her she didn't even say anything to her. You'd think someone who was just starting out would be a bit nicer to her 'fans'?
Re: Rude – I don't know if its because she's not nice but rather she lacks personality. A lot of female singers go on these shows with huge diva voices singing the diva classics but people are tired of seeing that. They wanna see stars with personality, originality, etc. not cruise ship style performances no matter how impressive the vocal range. She never did have the charisma that makes people fall in love with them
I wonder if Xfactor US will be like the UK one, the runners up become something, the winners fade into nothingness.
I hate to say this - but she's kind of a "who?" person.
It's not even that she's bad - there's SO MANY talent shows on tv. I cannot just fall in love with every new artist. Most of the new artists are the same style - "amazing" voice but boring a$$ songs. Something has to change!
She needs to drop them. She is super talented but her singles were sh*t, she is much better than that
Her body of its race known as the exuberance with covered considered augur the most beautiful object we got bored from
I never thought she was good & was surprised when she won. As for Astro I wouldn't worry about him to much, he's put out 2 mixtapes which have done good. He'll get picked up by another label if he hasn't already.
She didn't make it because she wasn't marketable. She was not pretty and her personality on the show was off putting. Half the show ,she was without accent, then she had one. Seemed so phony and staged by producers. I think it turned the public off. She is a good singer but so are millions of others.
Simon is a career killer. He never gets behind his acts. What happened to Leona Lewis?
American artist think they are better than their supporters. The supporters make who you are. It either they will break you or make you a star. Some celebrities need to be humble. I think American artist need to learn from other countries how to treat their supporters in a respected manner. Melanie one door closes for you another one will open.
She is an amazing singer and I hope she finds someone who can promote her properly.
This is sad sad sad to me - she has a great voice and I loved her singles - but LA never promoted her!!! Maybe this is a blessing in disguise - if true.
That's a shame, the 3 promo singles are good. As good as anything of the same genre that's currently out there. I think her label gave up on her before she had a chance.
Not surprising, she's not stick thin and she's not parading around dressed in hooker clothes and hanging off a stripper pole.
good luck to her, she has a great voice!
Well duh she didn't make it in the music industry! Most reality music competition winners never get famous, only a few. Most of the finalists do better! I doubt that Tate Stevens will do well after winning X Factor USA Season 2, his debut album is coming out WAY too early!
Re: Cha_Cha_the famous – This is so true. She had no personality/charisma and didn't really have the look either. All she had was a big voice but singing all these dated ballads doesn't get you anywhere. There are many people that can hit the high note but that doesn't make them stars. Plus yeah simon can't sustain careers for more than 1-2 years. Leona was incredible in her debut album days but after that simon focused all is efforts elsewhere namely one direction. most of the time its the runners-up that do well slowly over time as the winner fades away in a year or 2. in the rare event that the winner does well they have phenomenal record sales from the get go. e.g. kelly clarkson, carrie underwood, leona lewis, etc.
In order to be successful in the music industry, you need talent, personality, unique look & of course having LUCK is very important. If you destined to make it big, you will be, but if you are meant to be, then be it. Why not try to get signed by another record label, maybe she will do better?? Simon doesn't really care, all he cares is how much you can make for him. It is all about business.
Re: blondly7 – Let's hope so! I'd like to see Josh Krajcik soar to the top!
Re: South African gal –
Leona Lewis is still selling millions of records and selling out arenas. Look it up.
Re: Ben –
How is it way to early? You got to strike while the iron is what when you get off one of this competition shows in order to really make it. Why do you think the Winner and runner ups of American Idol release their albums six months after the show ends and have singles out within the next the month?
Re: South African gal – . Actually I find that American FANS are incredibly picky, fickle, and judgemental and that's why its harder to become a success over here. Most foreign acts (and domestic ones for that matter) who MAKE IT over here in the US usually became successful overseas first, THEN the US shows interest. Melanie came off like a nice girl who was a bit boring. However, I don't think she was given great songs (I did like Love Me Know, however) and/or any real radio play to gain awareness of her music in the first place. A lot of times its the LABEL that fails the artist, because the label is afraid to take risks and is usually the last to catch onto what is really hot in the industry.
I was in drama class in high school with her. Super talented sweetheart xoxo Mel.
