Let allll the juice spill from that TV savvy head and into our BRAINZ, Ryan Murphy!!
Like Mr. Murphy's other television projects (Glee, American Horror Story), we ADORE The New Normal, especially its ability to provide social/political commentary while simultaneously making us want to piss ourselves from laughing too hard (aka Lizzing).
During this year's PaleyFest, Ryan and his New Normal co-creater Ali Adler dished about their special plans for upcoming episodes, and specifically talked about one that will include a whole CHUNK containing no dialogue, but will instead feature John Lennon's Beautiful Boy.
Sounds like a giant tear-jerker! Someone please get us ALL the Kleenex!
Ryan also discussed plot lines, sharing:
"We’re building toward David and Bryan [Bartha and Rannells], getting married, building toward a baby being born, and we’re building towards Gloria’s character [Goldie, surrogate mother for David and Bryan’s child] really deciding if she is going to get back together with Clay [Blair] or continue on this independent path that she has created."
"The marriage and the baby don’t happen the way you think they are going to."
Things then got slightly serious when Ryan began talking about the two attorneys who are fighting to overturn Prop 8.
"It was a very dark day, very upsetting, and that was only four years ago. What moved the bar in only 4 years? Without missing a beat, [the attorneys] both said: ‘Television’. With shows like The New Normal and Modern Family and Glee, people feel that they know gay couples, they know gay people now more than ever."
And hopefully by depicting other "non traditional" families on TV and across all types of media, acceptance and tolerance will only SPREAD!
Brava for people like Ryan and Ali!
Oh, and don't fret John Stamos fans…
He WILL continue to play the charming, sexy Realtor Brice!
PHEW! Oh if only John favored men! Siiighhhh.
