Ugh! I remember those early days, they felt like they'd last forever. Know that it will pass. In the meantime this helped heaps: read happiest baby on the block, cycle baby's legs to get gas out, use gas drops (a real help for us). Some swear by gripe water, it's worth a try. Lots of hugs and patience from daddy. Parenting is amazing but it does have its trying moments. He won't be like that forever, take it from someone who thought it would never end and had a colicky baby boy. I researched hours online to find answers but time was the best answer. It's a different life when you are a parent that's for sure! When going to get the groceries seems less like a chore and more like an outing you know you're in the thick of it lol.

You might try laying the baby across your legs (bounce the baby lightly while you pat the bottom. This will help work out any gas and also sooth the baby.
    So proud of you!

Poor baby and family! Gripe water is helpful, and try swaddling and swaying as well. The crying will eventually pass, even if it doesn't seem like it at the time!

Our babies doctor told us to put some Culturelle in her bottles and boy did it work! She was like a totally different baby after just one bottle! We would poke a hole in the capsule and shake 1/10 of the powder into just one bottle a day. Hope you figure something out! Those were some tough times with a colicky baby!

Gripe water is a hoax. Read the happiest baby on the block. They have a DVD too. Methods work like a charm. It will all make sense after you read/watch.

Good luck, being a first time parent is hard.

Try Hylands Collic Relief (their teething tabs are awesome too). You can usually find it at Wal-Mart. Loved them and they are homeopathic.

Lots of snuggling and walking baby until the 3 month mark when things become easier. Love for baby and deep breaths for papa.

These Friday nights (and the ones to come) are surely some of the best moments of your life. :) I agree with many of the previous comments. Lots of great suggestions. Hang in there. <3

There are a few over the counter colic drops that work wonders! I had a really colicky baby and never went anywhere without them. They are wonderful. Good luck!

Ugh, we have just survived days of this! We went and got infacol drops, natures own anti colic bottles and novalac anti colic formula.. Needless to say,it worked. Good luck!

Breastmilk has fat content and the vitamins baby needs. Formula just doesnt cut it. You can get it I beleive .

Baby might be lactose intolerant. Try soy formula, isomil is great for that.

unless its fur balls i have zero advise to give ive never even changed a nappy in my life

Finding the right formula saved us. Soy based can upset their stomach we ended up on similar sensitive (orange container). Also, I would sit on an exercise ball and bounce her it was the only motion she liked. Good luck!

My little one had colic and acid reflux so we were a mess for a while! I swear by colic calm, its all natural and my little one loved the taste.

Sometimes it can be an allergy to the formula. Very often a soy formula could help. Ask the Dr. Congratulations!

  21. 21

I presume you're using formula? Try a lactose-free version, it really helps !

My first was colicky. It almost destroyed my marriage. Hours of crying every night. And sometimes during the day. Hang in there. Are you using "low iron" formula? The iron can really hurt their tummies. xoxo

Another great and easy thing that worked for us was to turn on the vacuum cleaner and just rock her next to it. For some reason it really soothed her. Now when I get out the vacuum to clean, she gets really excited and follows us around the house. lol.

    colic calm works fantastic

Used only Ovol drops and they did the trick, as gripe water had 3.6% alcohol in it, but they now have alcohol-free gripe water, so…whatever. Pediatrician should be consulted, as they know all about the latest. No point in administering something unless you're sure that's definitely the problem.

My son was a month old when I found out he was allergic to formula so I stared him on Raw Milk and black strap molasses. He is now a happy HEALTHY baby boy (5 months now). He had gaging issues when I lay him on his back. He cried and coughed or he would spit or throw up. The ingredients in formula are insane, nothing natural or organic. The older generation used raw milk and didn't have most of the problems the children have now. Good luck and Congrats!

Ya, Perez, nobody cares. Nobody gives a shit about your kid more than you do, so how about focusing more on the goss and less on the kid.

Re: @v@ – Well at least a bit of alcohol will help

  29. leencore says – reply to this

Try the Dr. Brown's bottles!!!! BEST ever!! They reduce colic, burps, gas, and spit up. A little pricey and a few parts, but completely worth it.

my son.. who is now 19, was colicky also. I used to take one of those star peppermints and break it into small pieces. melt one of those pieces and place the Oil/sugar mixture in the bottle. always worked.
