Sarah Jessica Parker Changes Her Tune On The Carrie Diaries BIG TIME!

| Filed under: TV NewsCelebrity FeudsSarah Jessica ParkerSex & The City

sjp vs carrie diaries

We guess someone has caught up on all her DVR'd episodes of The Carrie Diaries and is feeling like she shouldn't have been so quick to give her "blessing!"

Now that the CW prequel to Sex & The City is well into its first season, original series star Sarah Jessica Parker is once again speaking out about watching the character she made into an icon during her teenage years, although this time, she's not so much interested in giving her approval to AnnaSophia Robb or assuring herself that the story "is in excellent hands!"

In fact, in a recent interview, she threw some downright SHADE at what the show is doing to her legacy, as she responded when asked about it:

"I'm not sure. You know, I think it's one of those tests of your generosity. She [Robb] is a lovely girl and I want her to feel good about it, but it's…odd."

We think some folks might need some ICE for that burn!

Seriously! OUCH!

Then again, we could have described the second Sex & The City movie the same way, so maybe everyone can all agree, once and for all, that the original series should have just been left alone!

But hey! We're just glad Sarah didn't single AnnaSophia with her criticisms, as we agree that she's doing her job very well, even if the material isn't as strong as some people would prefer!

What do U think? Is the original Carrie on the mark about the new series?

I honestly think she is jealous. I LOVE the show, I just wish that the adult Carrie was as cool as young Carrie (and I loved SATC!)

    Sour puss, sour grapes

i doubt she's jealous…but i agree with her, the show is odd - it's nice if it were it's own series, but it doesn't really feel canon to satc, which is one of the best show's of all time.

also, apparently annasophia robb sucks in real life so…..

Yeah, it is odd how Carrie went from looking like a beauty queen to a meth addict lmao. I was pleasantly surprised when I started watching The Carrie Diaries. It's a cute show, and AnnaSophia Robb is an extremely underrated young actress. I hope the ratings pick up a bit so we get a second season.

let's see… SATC is a powerful series, featuring women to speak freely their minds about the taboo subject SEX, and that might be appropriate for the characters in their ages to cover the topic. As for The Carrie Diaries, she is a teenager & definitely different kinds of topics should have been covered. It is really odd to see kids portraying on TV to grow up so fast, talking about sex like "pushing a hotdog through the keyhole"?!! [eyes rolling, now]

THere are difinate plot lines that dont parallel with SATC. Like Carries Father and Carries sister. Her father in the original series left the family when carrie was young and carrie didnt have a sister. Those things should have been consitered.

Re: jean-huy – Teenagers are not so damn innocent. once a child goes thru puberty it's ON! people need to stop trying to shield LIFE from happening. I love Carrie Diaries. I want that guy to come out and plus this takes place in the 80's!

i love Sex & The City the series, so i was a bit hesitant about
this new "prequel" series, but AnnaSophia Robb has smashed
my doubts. i think she's a great young "Carrie"

as for Sarah Jessica Parker's "thoughts",
i think she has every right to her own opinion, whether it be
good or bad. at the same time, i find it sadly ironic, that she
is questioning the "writing" of The Carries Diaries, when the
last and final Sex & The City left us all with Carrie and Big
"watching old black and whites movies on a sofa"

    oh hell no! so genuinely. L A M E.

i think The Carries Diaries as a series, will more than pick up
the ball that Michael Patrick King sadly dropped a few years ago

Team Carries Diaries on this one

I really like the new series. It's a lot younger than the original, but I think the cast is strong and I look forward to seeing it every week.

"The Carrie Diaries" has NOTHING to do with Carrie Bradshaw & Sex and the City! I watched two episodes and couldn't take it anymore. As a stand-alone show, I'm sure it's cute for pre-teen girls. But, for die-hard fans of SATC, the show is bogus! I think the creators and producers missed an opportunity with the Carrie Diaries. As fans, we want to see Carrie out of high school and see how she met Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda!! Now THAT is the prequel to SATC!

    Love the showwwww <3<3<3

I actually love this series - it's absolutely appropriate for the age group and definitely gives a good lead up into SATC. Anna Sophia Robb does Carrie amazingly and SJP should be proud & keep her negative comments to herself.

  14. CPar says – reply to this

It doesn't stand up as a prequel. Time will tell if there's a new audience who will accept it on its own merit.

You guys are missing the point. The series is based off the original book and it's doing it justice (I've read the books and it fits perfectly)

  17. Be-Atch says – reply to this

WHY do I think that, IF one were to expose SJP's snatch, put sunglasses and a scarf on it , that it would look better than her ACTUAL face ? ? ? Gawd….she is one FUG BROAD….HORSEFACE OR FOOT FACE - YOU DECIDE. btw - GOOGLE SARAH JESSICA PARKER - FOOT FACE, AND YOU WILL DIE LAUGHING WITH THE RESULTS YOU GET ! I WET MYSELF LAUGHING !

  18. pj88 says – reply to this

Although I watch the show and think Robb is doing a fantastic job as Carrie (it's actually kinda spooky how close she is to SJP), but they should have done this show on HBO and more like GIRLS. They are trying to capture Sex and the City, but it's hard doing it PG… if this was on Cable, they could be much more blue and say/do things how New York teens would have done back in the 80's. Hope this show makes it.. so much potential, and Robb is a standout.

  19. 19

I agree with Sarah Jessica Parker. Why would she be jealous of a show that will never reach the stardom that SATC did?

If I were her I'd be pissed too. Every show out there is created for these fucking snot nosed kids. Then there's just ONE show for and about older women, and what happens? they turn it into a teeny bopper movie with some dumb little girl who wants to be carrie Bradshaw. NO ONE WILL EVER BE CARRIE BRADSHAW, not even when Carrie bradshaw turns 80. Fuck off youth. Leave some shit for the people who know about life.

  23. ali says – reply to this

I watched the first few and got bored. I'm not enjoying it at all, it is odd. satc was very adult, this is very young. I see some paralels to her character with Sjp but I would have enjoyed it more if I could relate to it, like Carrie being out of school and in new york city already. And I agree with the dad and sister thing, the older Carrie didn't have a dad or sister and I think that was a big part of who she was, so to see her like this doesn't make sense to me, it doesn't seem like Carrie, probably truer to the book series, but not the tv Carrie.

  24. 24

Re: mehh – What is canon? To me, it is a brand of camera.

  25. 25

Only saw the two movies, SATC was on HBO which I cannot afford, and this other series is on past my bedtime (go to bed early).

  26. lovelsu says – reply to this

    I love love this show!!!!

  27. 27

SJP is an ugly cow whose ethnicity is showing; she needs a nose job and face lift badly. I think she's jealous of her younger, prettier counterpart, and though SATC was an iconic show, the second movie was ridiculous. SJP needs to shut her mouth and let it go.

  28. Kelli Davis says – reply to this

Re: mehh – I agree with you. satc is my favorite show, but the carrie diaries has done finished the book . Now what? They should have left a good thing alone. I also agree with SJP on the show to.

how did they take horse face and make her into young non horse face WTF? there are so many more actresses that look more like sara jessica parker than this heart shaped face girl????? seriously WTF… this looks like its a worse version of gossip girls "lilly!"

  34. Jus Sayin says – reply to this

It sucks! It's Horrible! They should have left the original series alone!!!!!

  35. Be-Atch says – reply to this

lOOK…. SJP is one right HORSEFACE (google it ! ). And, WHO in the hell does she think she is critiquing a show when the one that made her all that dough was not exactly HIGH ART. I mean, give me a break. There is a reason the term CELEBUTARD was coined…fits all of 'em…Aniston, this HORSEFACE, HoHan, Hudson, etc. etc. etc. And…….she is one fug hag. I mean, GAWD…it just shows you UGLY people can make it in HollyWood ……..

  36. Be-Atch says – reply to this

And true. WHO is gonna believe that this sweet pretty perky-nosed heart-faced girl turned into the FUGLY HORSEFACE of 'Carrie Bradshaw' of SATC ? ? ? I mean, C'Mon ! ! ! Did she subsequently, as an adut, have an operation to make her nose BIGGER, and her face UGLY ? ? ? Can't wait for THAT episode ! LOL !

  37. Be-Atch says – reply to this

I know why they had someone who did not exactly resemble Sarah Jessica Parker….ponies are difficult to train ! lololololol ! ! !

As for Sarah Jessica Parker, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, just ask her husband :D . I don't think she is good looking but than again that doesn't really matter. The woman got the part in the show which turned out to be popular and that's all there is to it. Right place, right time, right bed to hop into to get the job… who knows *shrugs*. As for the new show, I am yet to see it. Looking forward to seeing it, actually. I doubt it will tarnish my opinion about the old show. This is new, different actors, different era, different mentality… sounds interesting.

  40. Tenielle says – reply to this

Something I've noticed is everyone is thinking that SJP is thinking negatively of the show. But did anyone perhaps think that she thinks it's 'odd' to see someone else play the character she made famous? I don't believe her comments are due to jealousy, but rather a sort of out-of-body experience. I don't know, just how interpreted what she has said.

  41. Be-Atch says – reply to this

    She is a dog …………………….woof !

  42. Jenna says – reply to this

Re: Andy – No… it doesn't actually. Carrie meets Samantha in New York first, and that was in the book "Summer and the City" which is actually a sequel to "The Carrie Diaries" which talks about Carrie's life in school while she's TRYING to get to New York. This show does not follow the books at all and think it sucks for those of us who are fans of the original story behind Carrie Bradshaw, in the books and in SATC.

Re: pollopicu – um, old and bitter perhaps? the carrie diaries was a cool interpretation of sex and the city via 80's. while I respect your opinion I believe it's an ignorant one. media is advertised and more or so created for old hags such as yourself; maybe try a soap opera.
