Anyone who doesn't know what Harlem Shake is by now must live on a remote island.
Baauer has received some major fame and fortune thanks to the soundtrack to the HUGE internet trend, but he was NOT the only artist featured and now those uncredited are looking to collect.
Rappers Hector Delgado and Jayson Musson are responsible for important lines like "do the harlem shake" and "con los terrorists" on the track at its third week on top of the Billboard charts, yet neither were contacted by Baauer or Mad Decent Records for permission.
Hector, now an evangelical preacher, explained:
“It’s almost like they came on my land and built a house."
While Hector and Jayson are entitled to royalties, Mad Decent claims they did not have the resources to track down the artists and they never predicted the song would become such a great success.
No worries, though. Both Hector and Jayson are in talks to reach an agreement on compensation for their contributions.
And they're going to get a BIG boost in their bank accounts, seeing as the song has sold 816,000 copies so far.
Now that that is settled… LETS DO THE HARLEM SHAKE! Or not… since it's been done SO much!
