But now it's straight up cancelled!

Ah, we get it! Because everyone loves a sweet surprise, Steve definitely doesn't want us reporting about Meryl's potential involvement!
Coming through loud and clear, Steve-O! We promise not to spoil your secret!
Last week we told you Mrz. Streep, one of Hollywood's most acclaimed actresses, was itching to play a part in Anchorman: The Legend Continues, the sequel to one of Hollywood's silliest movies.
At SXSW on Friday — and, while we're on the subject, do NOT forget to buy tickets for One Night In… Austin — Steve cleared up whether or not the Julie & Julia star was literally "begging" for screen time.
"Yes [Meryl] was a fan. But there's no validity to [her begging for a role.]"
Well, obvi! A woman of her remarkable caliber should never beg for anything!
Not for the cookie with the most chocolate chips at the bakery!
And certainly not for a role in a goofy Will Ferrell comedy!
Steve admitted she was interested, though. He said:
"I jokingly said, 'You should be in it. Meryl said, 'Could you imagine?' And it was just that."
Ahh, we can read between the lines!
Steve is trying to squash rumors of a HIGHlarious Meryl's cameo so that, if she does appear, fans will have their minds triple BLOWN in theaters!
An excellent plan, good sir! Your secret is safe with us!
