Widow Sues Church For Banning Late Husband's CRAZY Tombstone!

widow sues church banning late husband flamboyant headstone

Shannon Carr is furious with her church, and she's letting them know with a lawsuit!

St. Joseph Catholic Church refuses to allow her to install the $9600 tombstone she bought for her late husband!

Why? So how crazy is this gravestone?

Well, let's just say you could redneck-ognize it from across the cemetery!

It's black granite, shaped like a couch, and has color NASCAR and Indianapolis Colts logos carved into it. Not to mention animal head etchings.

Reverend Jonathan Meyer says Mrs. Carr was warned before purchasing the monument that it would not be allowed in their cemetery. He says:

"They told her not to move forward with the purchasing of the monument, but she went ahead anyway.

We have consistently communicated the same message prior to the purchase and after the purchase. We did not think a granite couch was an appropriate monument in our historic cemetery."

Should everyone be allowed exactly to express themselves and their loved ones on their own tombstones? Or should the rules keep things classy?

What do U think?

The church should have the right to reject any tombstone it does not like.

If they warned her before she bought it (by the sounds of it several times) then she shouldnt have a leg to stand on. Its a graveyard, there should be a level of respect on tombstones.

Clearly they have never heard of the wacky Hope Cemetery in Vermont which is full of crazy, whimsical gravestones and memorials celebrating the lives of their owners.

Maybe it's not the right cemetery to get a stone like that but I also think everyone should be able to express, buy, decorate & put whatever they want, after all, it's their money their money they're spending. On top of that, it's not hurting anyone, dead or alive.

What a dumb lady. She should respect the other dead persons. They church have the rights cause they own the land, they told her but she didn't listen. Maybe her husband didn't want her crazy idea. What a stubborn person!
