Oz Remains Great And Powerful! Highest-Grossing Film Of 2013!

box office top ten

Finally! An actual, successful movie in 2013!

For the second week in a row, Oz the Great and Powerful topped the box office this weekend, pulling in $42.2 million and securing it as the year's highest-grossing film so far, with a domestic total of $145 million!

But props also need to go to Halle Berry, whose new movie The Call followed up in the number two spot with $17.1 million, secured the actress her biggest non-X-Men movie opener since Gothika! AND with a reported budget of $15 million, it's already made back its cost…and then some!

Sadly, the exact opposite happened to Steve Carell, whose new comedy Burt Wonderstone secured the actor the worst opening for a comedy he has headlined with only $10.3 million!

But hey! It still came in #3, so that's something!

Check out the full box office top ten for this weekend…AFTER THE JUMP!!!

Oz the Great and Powerful, $42.2 million

Maybe Steve Carrell's movie did so bad because there was very little advertising? Both The Call and Oz had adds all over the place and I didn't go a minute on the tv without seeing either of them. This didn't make me want to see the movies but I at least knew about them. I have honestly never ever heard of this Steve Carell movie or what it is about I might have seen an advert about it like once. Maybe thats why idk

Re: Alicia – Really? It seems like all I saw was Burt Wonderstone commercials. Maybe it depends what channel you're watching but an ad played almost every time there was a commercial break.

I think it's a shame that no one mentions Side Effects, such a great movie.
