"We fought very hard for feminism, for women's rights. What I'm seeing today is a very opposite thing. I don't know why, but I see women being put back in their place. And I hate it. We're losing all we worked so hard for, and it really bums me out."

What the fuck are you talking about? What rights are you talking about? As a woman, I can do ANYTHING I want, get any kind of job I want, live anywhere I want, get an abortion (God only knows why I would want to do that, however) if I want, get medical help if I need it, go to college if I want, get married if I want, stay single if I want, sleep with whomever I want (male or female) if I want. So just what the hell are you talking about???????? You, my dear, are a complete (Democrat) moron and are just spewing out the same nonsense that the Obama campaign used to get that worthless tool elected.

What rights is she talking about? what did we lose?

  3. 3

Re: irvinegirlRe: shaygirl1309 – What we are loosing is respect. More and more women are being seen only for their bodies, and we are being called b*tches and h*s on a regular basis. The saddest thing is that young women see nothing wrong with this. It is not so much rights that we are loosing as a downward spiral in how women are perceived and judged in society.

I think the KarTRASHians have set woman back, even though they've made billions. They have sexualized our culture and demeaned it for money.

I was/am sick of hearing her shitty music on the radio, and bullshit to her staement. Bull, fuckin, shit, Stevie.

Re: irvinegirl – Shes not talking about politics you "Republican Moron" so stop trying to find any outlet to talk your shit and stuff your views down our throats. Its embarassing that you're a woman and you can't see what shes talking about. We have "Teen Mom" promoting young girls getting pregnant…now they're all train wrecks and MTV still gives em checks…we have "The real Houswives of (fill in the blank)" promoting older women acting ratchet like 20 year olds. We have Kim being constantly rewarded for making a sex tape. Social networking revolving around womens bodies and not their minds. We have reality shows about Strippers, Video Hoes, Socialites, and the most foolish gets the most airtime. We're losing Respect. Wake the fuck up

so true ppl r getting too relax to know we heading backwards

  8. 8

Typical….spew a soundbite devoid of facts. In what specific way are women going back?? Would someone please tell me??? Spewing more propoganda is disgusting.

  9. 9

Re: lacroix – You can't blame all this on the Kardashians. Kim wasn't the first person in the world to have a sex tape.

  10. 10

Re: rosebud99 – Agreed. I think Stevie meant to say that women are losing value, not rights. She just used the wrong word.

  11. 11

Um,… this is a woman who did a duet with a singer, who can't sing, Taylor Swift, and Stevie Nicks agreed to be in the background! The backlash for Taylor was huge, but no mention was ever made of Nicks, or her decision to be in such a duo. That, in my view, was an anti-feminist decision on Nick's part. So what is she talking about?

I am seeing a set back in the human race….not just women. Lets look at the bigger picture.

Re: irvinegirl – If you think women still have all their rights, you must be Republican. The Republican party is too big for women's vaginas and too small for the gun cabinets. The Republican party sucks and they are the ones trying to put women back in the kitchen. You are a complete moron spewing the nonsense of your own party and that's why you lost. Asshole.

  14. 14

So again I will ask, what rights have we lost?

  15. Alan Brickman says – reply to this

Love Stevie but this is flakey……..Which rights?? Free Cocaine???

  16. Miss Winks says – reply to this

This really falls on men, it's not our responsibility to "convince them" to respect us. You respect your fellow humans regardless, unless they harm others. This is the complete fault of men, no one could ever convince me that the blame or onus should be on women. Men have always and still set the tone for cultures and society. If a man fails to see the value in a woman other than for her sexuality, this is not something that is a woman's issue to fix. Ladies, stop blaming other women or yourselves for this behavior and attitude from men and society. Men simply and clearly have not evolved enough to act decently.

Re: rosebud99 – It's not our fault that men are such close-minded creatures though. Young girls probably don't like it but just know there's nothing they can do about ignoramus's spewing obscenities at them, there's just no point. Men need to change. Only they can control themselves and determine their behavior (as is the case with anyone), not women.

  18. 18

Re: rosebud99 – Well rosebud, that is why I do not listen to rap or hip hop music, that is about the only genre I can think of that uses that language.

  19. fiera says – reply to this

    rosebud99 -Completely agree!!

MB- The only bullshit there is is your stupid comment.

Irvinegirl -You are obviously a republican moron that totally missed her point because your brain is up your ass. What she was saying was that women are losing value, respect by the way they are perceived in society nowadays.

  20. Midwest_Warrior says – reply to this

Sorry but I haven't lost any rights and I don't allow myself to be a "victim" of disrespect. Women are doing it to themselves. If you believe a skimpy outfit, making a porno video, or letting your boobs hang out all the time gets you respect then you deserve to be treated like the moron you are. Nobody can reasonably say that women are losing their rights or being disrespected without looking at the behavior they choose to engage in in the first place. Nobody forces a woman to act the way she does or dress the way she does, she makes that choice.
People need to take a little personal accountability. IF a woman thinks it's ok to continue to listen to music that referes to her as a "bitch" or a "hoe" then quite frankly she is dumb.
The only thing that sets women back is accepting you are some sort of victim of society and the way we are treated. I'm not a victim, don't allow yourself to be one period.

Stevie's was a pretty general statement, and more specifics are needed. Rolling Stone offered no examples either, apart from some irrelevant nebulous quote about 'floating into a room like goddesses.' She should expound on this statement somewhere with details.

  22. 22

Re: Midwest_Warrior – I'm sure you're independent and whatnot but i think it's a bigger picture thing as in more and more women are acting and looking like what you've pointed out so it's more visible and therefore it becomes a generalization.

  23. 23

Re: RUSERIOUS – The Democrats are the ones that reduced us to body parts and show us no respect, moron.

  24. Miss Winks says – reply to this

Re: Midwest_Warrior – Right but who disrespects women for dressing, acting that way? MEN DO! It's funny how they lose no respect for themselves or other men when they have bedded countless women and had multiple one night stands. In fact, they bare that behavior with pride. Ladies we just need not fall victim to men's way of thinking. Who gives a damn if some jerk thinks you're less than him for your sexuality even though your behavior is comparable to theirs in this subject, notice the irony and ignorance in this double-standard they set, and don't fall for it! A man that really loves you, will love you regardless your sexual past.

  25. 25

Re: rosebud99 – Women knowingly and willingly choose to exploit their sex appeal for monetary gain. There will always be millions of women lining up to shake their ass for cash. When women stop using and exploiting men, selling their ass and using their bodies, then maybe they'll get respect.

  26. 26

Re: Miss Winks – You are aware, the majority of sexism women suffer are from other women themselves right? LOL.

  27. 27

Re: Miss Winks – Also, that double standard exist because men generally have to work their asses off for it, while it's so much more beneficial to women. Free drinks, meals, rides, etc. It takes no skill or effort for women to get laid, they get to sit back and watch men fight over their affection. That is one of the main reasons why it exist. Watching women brag about getting laid is laughable. No one wants to see either gender brag about such things. You could walk 30 feet and find at least 1 guy who wants to boink you. Literally by approaching them and asking them. Good luck for a man trying to do that.

  28. @v@ says – reply to this

Re: NookiesWA – When women make more than 65 cents on every dollar a man makes for the same job, maybe they won't have to shake anything. Many women I know will only accept a dinner at all if they genuinely like the guy, and the smart ones prefer to chip in the cash if the guy doesn't insist on paying. That way they're not beholden for the dinner, and the guy might appreciate it and ask her out again.

Re: @v@ – The gender wage gap is a myth. It has been proven false and debated amongst amongst economists for years. There's so many variables that are overlooked.

if you think Stevie Nicks reads all these negative comments about herself, trust me, she doesn't. She couldnt care less about what everyday, non-celebrity fucktards are saying about her.
