We're enjoying this whole will-they or won't-they saga going on at NBC right now over the rumblings of a decision to replace Jay Leno with Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show come sometime next year when Leno's contract is up!
Everything we've heard so far sounds pretty good in favor of Jimmy taking the reins next fall… and now we're hearing that if it DOES happen, it won't be premature!
In other words, if Leno has an issue with all this, he can hissyfit all he wants on his show, but he'll be there until the contract is up and won't be taken off the air a day before! Hopefully he uses this time to do some edgy stuff, even though nobody has ever called Jay Leno edgy for any reason (even when he attempted to make a vintage car out of denim)!
So, if you were hoping he'd say something stupid and they'd move Jimmy up faster, we're out of luck!
