Will Smith Passed On Django Unchained Because Jamie Foxx's Character Didn't Kill Enough White Dudes?!

Whoa! Our minds are blown!

After watching Jamie Foxx slay it as the titular hero of Django Unchained, it's hard to imagine anyone else playing the lead!!

So we were triple stunned to learn Will Smith was once attached to the Quentin Tarantino script, but eventually turned down the role because his character wasn't in enough scenes!

The Man in Black recently revealed:

"Django wasn’t the lead, so it was like, I need to be the lead. The other character was the lead! I was like, 'No, Quentin, please, I need to kill the bad guy!'"

That's INSANE!! And maybe slightly self-centered!!

Everything worked out for the best, we suppose!

Jamie took the role, his performance was amazeballz, Christoph Waltz waltzed away with an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor, and a bunch of slave owning white jerks got dead.

Still, we can't help but wonder how it might've all turned out if The Fresh Prince was involved, LOLz!!

Will Smith Passed On Django Unchained Because Jamie Foxx's Character Didn't Kill Enough White Dudes?!

Wtf Jamies lips get darker and darker, how much weed does the dude smoke?!

thank god! Will Smith would have made a terrible Django. He doesn't have the acting skills to pull off that role

Very misleading headline! It is really horrible of you to write a racially inflammatory headline when the story is really about camera time.

Once the entire interview is read you will realize that he turned the role down because he felt Django wasn't the main character. Will wanted the character to kill the main evil character. I am glad he didn't take the role Jamie Foxx aka Erik Bishop did an excellent job.

Will Smith has put out a bunch of crap movies. His stock is way down in Hollywood. He should be more concerned about picking good material and less about if he is the lead.

Re: Malibubu – Agreed! I don't think he would have done half as good a job, anyway, though that could be because I don't take him 100% seriously anymore. Django was an equal lead! Gimme a break!

blacks are to busy killing each other to bother with white people much.

Who cares! He wouldn't have as good as Jamie Foxx who did a brilliant job as Django. The movie is about Django: a freed slave, not Mr Smooth.

Django Unchained? More like Django Enabled…even Will Smith says so…

Through out the run up, premier and theatrical run of the movie, there were countless interviews and reviews that stated repeatedly that Django was a hero. The problem was he really didn't act like much of one for most of the film. The hallmark of the hero is one who initiates action. Someone who is doing something because they have the most to gain or lose in the situation. The hero is always playing the angles and looking for opportunity even if he or she isn't sure of the outcome. For most of the film that's NOT how Django himself acts.

How did the 'kill enough white dudes' creep into the otherwise honest quote???
I have no problem with a guy cherry picking roles. Hey, if Will knows himself, he knows himself.

Will Smith is a lame-ass actor, too full of himself. Foxx was much better. I would have been torn: I go see all Tarantino moves, but never go see Will Smith movies anymore.

Re: printer – It also might have done Smith some good to stretch himself with the role he turned down. Maybe you'd still go to see him.

Where do you idiots get your information? Will Smith wanted to take the part and called the screenplay genius. I suppose articles like this is why nobody takes you seriously and calls it trash. You are what is wrong with the world. Do something useful.

I things turned out for the best. Will smith cant do something without infusing it with pop culture crap. No one would blae you for not remember the craptastic job he did with the Jim West character in the easily forgettable Wild wild West film…. i also glad we were spared the wickyddy-wickiddy-wack obligatory rap song that Will Smith would have also insisted in recording for the movie.
