SCOTUS Hears Oral Arguments About Prop 8 & Marriage Equality! Listen IN FULL Here!

| Filed under: Gay Gay GayPolitikLGBT

It's an exciting time in humanity's history people!

Yesterday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Hollingsworth v. Perry, the official federal constitutional challenge to California's Proposition 8.

In case you missed ANY part of the explosive discussion, don't fret! Take a good, long listen (above)!

If you are somehow unaware of Prop 8 or the controversy that surrounds it, let us briefly inform you…

Prop 8 is a state constitutional amendement that received a majority of Californian votes in November 2008. The proposition declares "only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California."

Thus, any same sex marriages that had previously been recognized in the eyes of the law were no longer considered so, and same sex couples were (again) unable to legally get married.

Thankfully, this GROSS violation of equal rights is FINALLY being addressed, and on a nation-wide platform!

And whatever the Supreme Court decides, it's going to be MONUMENTAL.

Here's to a more tolerant, enlightened future society!

They're going to throw it all back to the states, homo. That's not monumental, it's what should happen. You pheggs didn't get your way in CA, and so you ran to SCOTUS to once again force the issue. The justices were pretty clear that they thought a ruling from them was inappropriate and premature; you're damned fucking stupid if you can't see that. You homos shouldn't be allowed to get married anymore than you should be allowed to buy children. So STFU.

A more talented, enlightened future? Really Perez?! This morning, Perez Hilton (the Hiypocrite!!) gave a glowing endorsement for "Ender's Game" this morning — A movie written by Orson Scott Card, who is on the Board of Directors of the "National Organization for Marriage", which has been at the forefront of opposing same-sex marriage laws. In 2009, Orson penned an opinion piece for the Mormon Times in which he argued: “Marriage has only one definition, and any government that attempts to change it is my mortal enemy. I will act to destroy that government and bring it down." In another column last year, he called homosexuality a “reproductive dysfunction” born of choice. If Perez really cares about the gay marriage movement, why would he post a glowing review about a film written by a board member of NOM?!?!

Just because somebody is against homosexuality doesn't mean that their work should be hated for a reason not even valid to a review of the movie. That would make anyone who did such a thing look foolish and stupid with no way to support their argument.

And then we have some anonymous bigot. Prop 8 and DOMA both have issues with them that many say make them unconstitutional. Therefore, they should be repealed if SCOTUS finds they are unconstitutional.
"Buying" children is illegal. It's called adoption. It gives parent-less children a home and parents who will love them. And what does marriage have to do with that at all?

If DOMA and Prop 8 are repealed it paves the way for legislation that allows gay marriage via the federal constitution, or even on a smaller scale such as by state approval. The repeal of DOMA would help same sex marriages have the ability to be recognized in states they didn't occur in.

I don't see why you have to be so hateful for no reason. 16 years old BTW.

Here's this number one concern, Money? Do you think the government will give millions of dollars in tax breaks without raising taxes or just doing away with marriage tax cuts entirely????????????? So for all you straight people that are for gay marriage you might want to think about this . How far are you willing to go for " equality"?

    Re: Pansy Hunter

Might want to look up the history of what happened in California (even before prop 8) . It is not the "homos" that have been whining. The state supreme court overturned prop 22 in 2008. It was the homophobes who whined over this and created prop 8. The court of appeals then said prop 8 was unconstitutional. It is PROPONENTS of prop 8 who brought it to the SCOTUS, not the gays, to try and overrule the state supreme court's decision. So maybe you should "STFU" until you do some research that a nine year old could do in five minutes before bashing your keyboard again.
