One more step BACK for women…

What a bloody pointless video. It's not artistic, it has absolutely no depth and barely any relationship to the lyrics; it's just plain skanky.

    3

WTF was that??? It would be an okay video if the women would put their clothes on? I don't get it what was the reasoning behind them dancing with no clothes on?

  4. murp says – reply to this

    4

i agree with the first comment

i enjoy looking at naked women, but the contrast set by the clothed dudes is too much. as a woman, i kinda feel shitty watching this, and it's not just because the women's bods are "ideal"

and the "big dick" message in balloons, really???

naked women and claiming your junk is big seems to be overcompensating for something. i'm speaking the obvious

pharrell williams should get back to whatever he was doing a decade ago, that shit was good

  5. Equality says – reply to this

    5

I think the point of the video was that women and men are equal. If you noticed in the video they only showed their breasts. So the point was why is it a negative thing when women show theirs but there is no problem when men walk around shirtless even though, breasts are the same on men and women. And it does correspond with the lyrics, "tried to domesticate you, but you're an animal, its in your nature just let me liberate you". Women are put down for showing off their breasts, and just because they're are larger than mens its considered wrong. Stop being hypocritical!

    7

Re: rob – I am not an animal! I am sick and tired of seeing women walking around on stilts and freezing to death while men are clothed. Every year women come closer and closer to being animals, trained circus ponies. Every year the average shelf life of a woman is being shortened and child prostitution growing in the demand for younger victims to exploit.

    just shitty

    9

Re: Rose – Sorry rob, didn't mean that last comment directed to you. I am just that upset. Your attitude is commendable. As was murp. We need more men like you, that rise above first instinct into higher reflection and speaking out. No, my comment was directed to 'equality' though that seems more like 'inequality” to me.

  10. 10

Well, I'm a woman and I liked it. I really don't feel like this is degrading to women. I just don't think seeing women's breasts is a huge deal, it's not like they are working a pole, they are dancing around and having a good time. Also I think the "big dick" thing is intended to be a joke, I laughed when I saw that… I think that was the point. The point of the video was to be fun and to see some tits. What's so wrong with that? People love boobs… get over it.

  11. 11

    What?????? What??? is this legal?

  12. 12

Perez, I think you are gonna get in trouble for showing the unrated version !! I hope you get fined!!

    13

MOST SEXIST THING I HAVE SEEN IN A VERY LONG TIME. could this possibly objectify women more blatantly? no. it couldn't. i don't care if you are a woman and you like it. i don't care if you are a man and you like it. i don't care who you are. this is vulgar. this is the problem with our country.

  14. 14

what does paula think of this?? and i agree. i'm a woman also, and, while i appreciate the female form in all its glory, this is pure sex for the sake of sex. dumb and useless.

  15. 15

Re: Equality – nice analysis actually, but still an entirely unnecessary version. hey robin, next time try going with a more meaningful social commentary that won't conveniently feature bouncing breastage. :/

AMAZING VIDEO!!!! Nice to see a qwerky video these days. the below comments are rubbish, you all need to go with the flow.

    Good work thicke

  18. 18

You're all morons. These women knowingly and willingly chose to exploit their sex appeal for monetary gain. Women are attention whores and will constantly seek approval from men. There will never be a shortage of hot women willing to shake their ass for cash. Men objectify women, because women objectify themselves. Of course it, just like everything else is blamed on men. This whole "feminism" crap is getting out of control and should have been abolished after the 2nd wave.

  22. 22

Re: michaelz – No one likes male feminists. You're a moron. These women would rather use their looks to make money. The ones whining about it are the ones that CAN'T. Simple as that. You can't blame society, men,etc for objectifying women when they willingly choose to objectify themselves. You by far are an irrational dumb ass.

    28

Honestly, I don't get why everybody is making such a big deal out of this. It may be exploitation, but did anybody comment on how the actors of 'Magic Mike' were exploitated? No. And the only reasons they got hired was because of their bodies and their willingness to show them. These women are doing the same (except, wow they really can't dance), yet people immediately start fighting. I'd say many people are quite the hypocrites, but alas.
Not to say that I liked this. The song was crappy as well as the video, but to each their own. Right?

Re: NookiesWA – I know that women exploit themselves. It is a form of mental illness that they do so. They demean the image of woman and what she is capable of. They reduce their consciousness and decay the holiness of their spirit, subvert their I.q. To lower decimals. You make yourself into pet goat without restraint. This is the future you hold for yourself and others who would follow your example. De-evolution.

i get that this vid is kinda a joke, but i think this is ultimately a poor attempt at publicity by Robin Thicke. I don't know a single person who listens to him, never heard him on the radio, poor man's justin timberlake (and justin timberlake is mediocre in my opinion ) if he was more popular, i don't think he'd be making videos like this.

it's boring. people are talking, but ultimately this song and the video are dull.

I never comment on vids. But this is disgusting. I hope the song does terribly. As a woman, this truly upsets me. What happened to self-respect. I get that women get naked on tv all the time. Most of the time I'm not really bothered because sometimes it is a necessary part of the role. But to see these two idiots fully clothed while the women dance around them naked is just so anti-feminists. These 'models' are in no way different than strippers.

  37. lolanyc says – reply to this

    37

This video is just vulgar.. watching women parade around in front of 2 clothed men for a videos sake? I dont get it I hate it. I felt like it was disrespectful. Yes some women use bodies for money, but not all.. and to even compare this to magic mike is stupid. I didnt see a guys wang in that flick.. how come Matt didnt strip down? Boobs will always be something that should be covered.. I know woman for god know what reason want to walk around topless? you cant not with the men who are animals this day and age. It seems all men degrade women. They use and abuse them for sex. they throw cash at them and make them do all sorts of things. Women need to stop giving men this ammo!!!! Its gross and disgusting and I agree.. what the hell is the world gonna be in 20 yrs. This is why i dont want kids. I wouldnt want them growing up in this shitty world.

    41

I don't see why everyone is so upset about this video. It's a fun video of a few guys dancing around with a few topless girls. I don't understand why the girls are topless but in any case I don't see anything wrong with it. I just get upset when I see people needlessly play the "degrading" card when there isn't anything degrading being done. The tone isn't degrading at all, it's a fun song, everyone's having fun, and the girls just happen to be topless. If you are easily offended by nudity that's your problem but I don't see anything degrading about it at all. Power to them all. #Respect

  42. JustMe says – reply to this

    42

Come on what's wrong with the video. I thought it would be worse considering the YouTube ban. The ladies aren't putting "things" in "places" and the guys aren't groping. It's not like some seedy rapper's dark stripper pole video with hunits being thrown around as the women crawl to pick them up. Plus, at least in my opinion, the women were natural breasted women and didn't present the over the top plastic cantaloupe enhanced boobs. Before to long I was just watching the WHOLE video not just staring at boobs. I might just be the minority here but I also lived in England a while so the things we scream are heads off here are shown on normal TV after 9pm.

  43. erik says – reply to this

    43

…seems like a double standard. You see topless women in one video and all of sudden you get a bunch of people bitching about it. Youtube already banned the unrated video. Yet you can find a video like "I'm sexy and you know it" on youtube, where the men are showing just a tad more. Whenever you have half-naked men in videos, you kind of just laugh it out or ignore it. But you see a couple of half-naked women, and it's considered obscene, disgusting, and degrading to women, blah blah blah

  44. erik says – reply to this

    44

Newsflash…the human body is NOT degrading. The female form is beautiful and NOT degrading.

  45. vee says – reply to this

    45

What I find funny is that when women are naked, it's an issue about women being treated badly and degraded BUT when men are half naked on TV (Ellen Degeneres' underwear model) it's hot and funny and alright to show on TV. Are you freaking kidding me? Until we settle the double standard, we can debate. People are bitching about how these women are skanky but hello! tons of men are portrayed as sex objects like in Sex and the City, Grey's Anatomy to name a few.

And I'm pretty sure these women were not forbidden to wear clothes. As you can go look up the video on Youtube, the women in the video are clothed. So go watch that video instead and go protest elsewhere.

for me this video was cute and fun,
The persons the make such a big deal out of it, are perverted persons in my opinion they try to find something wrong in sensuality, they think nakedness its a bad thing.
This video has nothing new and nothing bad, this was Ok since the 70's people come on,
do you really believe that for this video, men are going to loose respect of women? we are in the year 2013 we have internet and porn and we still respect women, I understand that there is a lot of douchebags out there, but they will always be douchebags and they wont be more douchebags for watching a picture, video, movie, etc. with naked persons in it.
This is not porn or art it just cute and fun, there is nothing wrong with nakedness and sensuality, thats all I have to say.
I hope I didnt offend anybody in this comment, thats not my intention ;)

Really? This is what my daughter has to grow up watching? So disappointed. I have always been a big fan of all three of these artists, but just lost all respect. I challenge each and every one of you if you have kids, let alone daughters, would you want them dancing naked in a video with some stranger. I bet not. There is a place for sexuality and intimacy and being provocative, but I do not feel it lies in a video for a song. And while I absolutely love this song, I will no longer allow it in my house, purely because my 2.5 year old, 3.5 year old and 6 year old deserve better.

Considering that deciding what "art" is or isn't can't really be agreed on by anyone,
Considering that the producer of the video chose to make the video this way and is in no way intentionally discriminating against any race or gender,
Considering that as essentially an entrepreneur and an individual in the United States, the producer of the video is entirely allowed to make whatever video he wants and put whatever he wants in it,
Kindly stop bitching about how bad this video is.
I mean really. If you women have issues with your portrayal in the movies, video game, or music industries, go make your own movies and put whatever you as an individual want in it.

    62

    Yawn.
Same old bs that is always shown just without a top on this time. Did they really think this is original or news worthy?

As for the comment below about equality to show breasts. It would only be a video displaying equality if the topless women were presented in a non-sexualised. Men can be topless without it necessarily being in a sexual manner. Women topless are almost always (including this video) turned into sexual objects when they are topless.

    64

I don't think it's the fact that the women are naked, because nobody could care less. It's the contrast created by the fact that the women are naked and the men are fully clothed. If any of you studied even a bit of semiotics in English class at school, you would be observant enough to spot that. People are not raging over nudity, they're raging over the contrast created by the men and women in this video. The argument "oh but they've agreed to do this, so clearly they're enjoying themselves" is irrelevant in this case (in a any case really) because it's about the message the video sends out. It's not about whether the women are naked or not, or whether they enjoyed themselves or not, it's about the message of the standard of women v.s men, which in this video is represented as women lower than men. The men are fully (!) clothed, while the women run around naked. That's what people are annoyed about. Now let's stop fighting about this very lame and unoriginal song and video, and move on to listening to good music.

  65. Elise says – reply to this

    65

This really upset me… great song and all and I don't want to sound like a whiner… but what kind of standards does this set for young girls out there? I saw this clip was on TV uncensored at 9 pm today! Kids still watch TV at 9 pm.

and the problem isn't even the nudity of the women, it's the fact that the men are clothed. This just puts the women in a degrading and worthless position. Imagine a videoclip with dressed women and men's junk on camera… that would make no sense either.

It's tasteless, disrespectful towards women and I hate the thought of girls getting the idea they need to have their tits out to be interesting. Whoever made this videoclip should really be ashamed.

    66

    [re=6370432]Re: Equality[/re

Are you blind? The point is not that women should be allowed to walk around showing breasts that are "equal" to mens but that these women all represent the "ideal" body which when presented en mass by the media makes normal women feel bad about their bodies and in some cases leads to them abusing themselves to achieve the "perfect look".

As for only revealing their breasts, well no. Compared to the men they are practically wearing nothing, this reinstates female inferiority.

The fact that they "tried to domesticate you" also shows that these women are treat as something to be controlled by men and the patriarchy, and "you're an animal" isn't exactly complimentary. No I'm a woman. Human. Same as you.

And don't try and tell me what I want ("I know you want it") I will decide that for myself, this song implies all women want sex, yet if a woman sleeps around she is branded a slut. This is slut shaming and IS NOT OK>

How to get to number one on the charts with a mediocre song: exploit women in the video. Not in every case, but often enough. Sad but true. It's been happening for years and this video is shocking now but will only become standard in years to come if the pattern continues. I was a model for years and can say I started out with no intention of doing topless shoots but was greatly manipulated into doing so on promises it would be edited out of the photo in post production; nearly every model I know who has done topless feels the same. I should have known better but was young and impressionable. I remember the early 2000s when rap videos that would be considered mild now were exploitative and shocking to the public, just like this. Congratulations douchewad Thicke on your victory and being a true representation of how to dually glorify and objectify a person. It doesn't have to be a man/woman debate, how about just a person debate. I would feel awful seeing this done to men also.

There is so much more than sex in life…but no…in this world it's all about that, please seek the real meaning of life, what can really satisfied you and fill your empty heart. And I believe that you can find real meaning of life in Jesus Christ, who died for our sins on the cross, to forgive us, and if we follow Him, He will make our lives new and He will give us hope and peace.

Re: aRcaNum – Oh, right. This was about wholesome sex for procreational purposes. Now I've heard everything. I'm not offended by nudity. I am offended by systematic objectification of women and catering to the lowest common denomiator for a buck. There was no ART this. The only reason anyone is talking about it is because of the naked boobs. Robin Thicke has no talent, but he knows how to make a buck. I hope the "models" were well-paid, since they're the only reason this douchebag is making any money.
