Brendan Fraser's Alimony & Child Support Payments Worse Than Imagined!

brendan fraser pleads poverty after injury cant afford alimony child support payments

It looks like Brendan Fraser might need that Mummy reboot we heard about so long ago to happen sooner rather than later!

As we've mentioned before, the actor has been struggling to keep up on his alimony and child support payment which total more than $110,000 a month! Well apparently things have gotten so bad that he's been forced to 'plead poverty' in hopes of getting those costs slashed!

According to a source close to Brendan, he hasn't been able to keep up with payments after sustaining a serious back injury while trying to do some repairs on his home in Connecticut:

"Back in October a tree fell on Brendan’s home during Hurricane Sandy, and it caused a lot of damage to the property. In his efforts to clear up after the storm, Brendon grabbed his chainsaw and tried to cut the fallen tree free. As the chainsaw went through the bark, Brendan’s back gave way, and he was left in excruciating pain. The debilitating injury left him requiring correction back correction surgery, which he was performed in a private Beverly Hills clinic. Then, he had to undergo rehabilitation and was even using a stroller for a while, the injury was so bad."

Ouch! That sounds painful!

In addition to racking up a huge medical bill, the source claims the injury can also hurt his chances of finding acting jobs since doctors have advised him to not perform his own stunts.

Back in 2009 when Brendan and Afton Smith filed for divorce, they came to a settlement without too much conflict. But now the actor is claiming he doesn't make nearly as much money as he once did, and he can no longer afford the price they agreed on.

It definitely doesn't seem like the demand for Brendan is as high as it once and his funds might be starting to dry up!

I am on his side. 100,000 is a bit much for the effing alimony and child support. He was good enough to pay the amount in the beginning but now he can't do it. It's not like he doesn't want to except that he can't. Hope he recovers. I liked him in the mummy movies and he did well in Journey to the Center of the Earth. Really enjoyed that movie. My son also loves his movies. He's cool!

He is a really nice guy. This ex wife is greedy and hateful. He has provided for his family and he is seriously hurt. I used to work out at the same gym with him and he is super polite and nice. I hate women that act like this. She should get a job.

Sounds like she's a heartless bitch. Situations change and life changes. Poor guy give him a chance to heal. Then be decent and reduce the payments no kid needs that kind of money to live. Try spending less and getting used to less stuff. I have three kids I only see 2400 a month and its plenty.

Apparently the ex has no sympathy whatsoever with his problems and is demanding the full amount. What a greedy gold-digger. She could easily survive on half that amount. These ex wives have no compassion when life circumstances change because they're just in it for the money.

That amount of alimony is purposely meant to bankrupt someone. Over $1 million per year is outrageous. She probably also got to keep real estate too. This isn't sustainable and will only hurt the kids in the long term. Wonder if the ex is even setting money aside for college. He probably has to do that too.

It amazes me that she is getting 100,000 dollars a month…or more..whatever the price tag..its INSANE..I think that rule that you are to pay the spouse/mother whatever she was used to before the divorce is just twisted. No person needs 100,000 a month to live safely, happily, and comfortably..thats beyond comfortable…that being said, he isnt living the way they both were living in the past now anyway…so why should she still be living with that budget, when he isnt? it seems really wrong…Courts should really take that into consideration. sad.

He's not a nice guy at all… he's an egocentric douchebag who is verbally abusive to serving staff, grocery store staff and anyone who he deems beneath him. He deserves everything that he's been getting.

Maybe he should ask Maria Bello for the money. After all, he cheated on Afton with her and caused the divorce. Afton put her career on hold to manage his. She gave him everything and he repays her by cheating? Well, jerk…that's gonna cost you. PAY UP! Afton isn't heartless or money-grubbing. She's watched him lavish lady friends rather than her children. What a jerk!

Re: lmnop1998 – Yes she is. You don't need a MILLION DOLLAR to raise a child.

I feel for him. that's 1.3 mill - I doubt he is even making that much right now if his career has slowed down. too bad he seems a like a decent person. house wiped out by hurricane sandy so that he had to do the repairs? amazing that people are so heartless. say a prayer that his life gets back on track and he gets a little mercy.

Re: lmnop1998 – LOL you must be the ex-wife or a relative. I am actually somewhat opposed to long term alimony. get a job. maybe he will become a nicer person through this humbling experience. we all go through it.
