Glee Star Cory Monteith Checks Into Rehab!

cory monteith rehab(1)

Glee star Cory Monteith has checked into rehab to treat substance addiction, his publicist revealed Sunday night. It is unclear what substances he is being treated for.

Sadly, this is not an April Fool's joke!

A rep for Lea Michele's boyfriend says:

"[Moteith] has voluntarily admitted himself to a treatment facility for substance addiction. He graciously asks for your respect and privacy as he takes the necessary steps towards recovery."

This news is truly sad and shocking, as there have been no reports of unprofessional behavior or hard partying from Monteith.

Cory, 30 years old, has been open about his struggles with addiction in the past and previously checking in to rehab at 19.

"I don't want kids to think it's okay to drop out of school and get high, and they'll be famous actors, too," Monteith said in 2011. "But for those people who might give up: Get real about what you want and go after it."

Our heart goes out to Monteith and we wish him a speedy recovery as he deals with his issues.

I have huge respect for him admitting he has a problem and voluntarily going into rehab. This should be a reason he should be looked up to.

Drugs ! The scourge of HollyWood ! These young people come, looking for fame and fortune, and wind up snorting their brains out ! And nobody looks after them ! They really oughta shut the place down !

Wow, I didn't see that coming.
It takes a lot to seek for help though, good for him. And good luck to him, he'll pull through!

Is there really no one else that thinks it is a bit fishy that a relatively private star with no previous public history of drug or alcohol problem is now publicly announcing that he is entering a drug rehabilitation clinic?

Re: Ashleigh – You don't know Cory's story do you. He's had a rough past. Just google it. I'm so proud of Cory for recognizing his problem and doing something about it!

He DOES have a history of addiction and has been in rehab, it was before Glee so he was not in the public eye at the time but he has admitted to it and he works with at risk youth charities to help them avoid the same mistakes he made. He is very serious about this topic and about helping others in trouble so I doubt he would use this as a PR stunt. If he wanted a good PR stunt he would just either break-up with or become engaged to Lea. Also keep in mind that he may have only had a small slip and being dedicated to his rehab he is being pro active.

I'd have to pop pills too if I was on a sinking ship of a show like Glee & dating that Lea girl.

definitely didnt see that one coming…but I'm happy for him. It's nice to see someone get help before the law has to intervene or they end up having some big publicity nightmare…it kind of makes ya think…he really really wants just for himself, and not just to save face, which is great! I Went to rehab at 21, before the law or anything had to intervene, because I was just so sick and tired of being sick and tired, and its changed my life immensely. Still clean and sober to this day..it takes A LOT of work, but he can do it, anyone can, even the worst of the worst! Goodluck to him!

Re: Lala – Instead of being judgmental, I'm sure Cory would greatly appreciate a supportive comment from you, if you're a fan. Otherwise, it's probably not too much of a sacrifice if you can just bite your tongue and hold off on making such irresponsible comments and be a bigger person rather than be hateful and petty. Ok? Thanks.

Re: AshleighB94 – He has talked about being in Rehab when he was 19 years old because he had problems with drugs so this is not a joke or a publicity stunt.

The story actually refers to a previous addiction at age 19. Did you even read it?

Hi there, I have a friend who is an aspiring singer trying to make it in the music industry and he's totally blind. I would love it if you checked out his music page at

If you like what you hear, please spread the word about him. He can't make it happen without your support.

  21. 21

Fucking dumb ass yank actors and their rehab. They can't just deal with their issues like any other fucker. Just another attention seeker pos

  22. 22

Re: AshleighB94 – He entered rehab at the age of 19 due to addiction problems. He spoke out about it in various interviews a few years back. So no, not really fishy at all.

On another note, big respect to him for trying to sort his life out!

  23. 23

It's also kind of annoying how most Glee related topics seem to revolve around Lea (don't get me wrong I do love her!) in some way. This article is about Cory and he is much more than just 'Lea Michele's boyfriend'.

  24. 24

Hmm i don't know why i can smell April's fool on this one. The guy seems all too clean!

  25. 25

He "graciously" asks? So his publicist is clearly an amateur twat. As for Cory, he's probably getting treatment for the drugs that have blinded him to the fact that he's been dating Lea Manface; he woke up in a moment of clarity and was horrified at what was in bed beside him.

Re: Idina – Shut up, asshole. Life isn't all unicorns and rays of light; people are allowed to express themselves as they choose, not as a tyrant like you would MAKE them do. Who the fuck do you think you are, telling others what they should say? You need a punch in the mouth and your fingers broken, you stupid whore. STFU.

I wish him all the best and I commend him for being so strong.

Corey Monteith struggled with addiction long before he ever came to Hollywood.
I think your comment is an inaccurate generalization.

Isn't releasing MEDICAL RECORDS against FEDERAL LAW; and why aren't these celebrities ALLOWED medical privacy?

  31. 31

He's been in a 12-Step religious AA/NA cult "HIGHER POWER" Treatment Program before…

HOW COME THE 12-Step religious AA/NA cult "HIGHER POWER" FAILED?

AT $50,000 a month WHY IS THE 12-Step religious AA/NA cult FAILING SO MANY; being LOCKED IN A ROOM for a month works just as well!

I have even more respect for Cory for being proactive and checking in BEFORE things had gotten out of hand. I was astonished when Cory revealed during the Inside the Actors' Studio cast interview that he had had a substance abuse issue beginning so young, but was very impressed with the forthright manner in which he addressed it and had been treated and how well he'd handled the problem over the years. Cory has my utmost respect, regard and support as he deals with the problem. I hope everyone else will keep them both in their hearts, as do I.

I'm really proud of him. I personally have been in treatment 3 other times and again I'm struggling with addiction but am too ashamed to get help. It's harder than most people realize
