The Walking Dead's Season 3 Finale Takes Top Honors!

| Filed under: TV NewsBusiness Blitz

walking dead game of thrones talking season finale wins turnout bullshizz episode

The Walking Dead's finale for season 3 took top honors in the amount of viewers, and we'll also assume that it took the top honors in the amount of viewers left disappointed by that bullshizz we all sat through!

Season 3 of the Walking Dead was really inconsistent, but the first few episodes and the good ones here and there during the rest of it pretty much makes it the best season yet, regardless of the letdowns along the way. Last night's episode was the biggest letdown of them all, giving Carl the best moment and drama. The rest of it was a complete throwaway!

Still, it garnered the biggest audience ever as the top-rated scripted show on television this season! Seriously, 12.4 million people watched the finale, which was more than everything else except for NCAA basketball.

Apparently the show's 5.4 average rating for the season in the key 18-49 demographic also made it the top-rated scripted show on television, kicking the crap out of The Big Bang Theory! The only thing about that claim is that BBT's season isn't over, and we bet the reruns still do better than The Walking Dead's.

Even recap show Talking Dead had 5.2 million total viewers, beating the season 3 premiere of HBO's Game of Thrones!

People probably just wanted to see what the guests had to say about the sham of an episode we got as a season finale!

Did U watch the finale?? Did U think it was a wasted opportunity??

Are you kidding me Perez?!?! The finale was AMAZING!!!!!! It ended in the most perfect way possible, and it left me craving for more. I don't know how I'm going to wait 6 months for the new season. It was not a sham, it was PERFECT. It was a roller coaster of emotions. I loved, loved, LOVED it.

I don’t want to post specifics because I don’t want to spoil anything for people who have yet to see it, but it left me disappointed as well. It definitely wasn’t on par with the other season finales, feeling much more like a filler episode. I just hope this isn’t any indication of what’s to come in season four.

Just because YOU didn't like it, Perez, does not mean the rest of the country didn't like it. I though the finale was fantastic!!! Last time I checked, Perez Hilton wasn't a tv critic..nor does he speak for tv audiences. Thanks.

Perez… you need to turn your geek card in now. For a guy who promotes garbage like the (ironically anti-gay) "Ender's Game" on your site, you have no geek creed whatsoever.

Wow, I can't believe I came across this site! This is the first time here and definitely the last! Who would ever want to read this crap! The Walking Dead, and especially season 3 was absolutely amazing! It's just sad that people like you with sites like this act like you actually make a difference in this world. Please, do us all a favor and don't post crap like this about amazing people who take part in fantastic entertainment!

I really wish they stuck with the comics more. Andrea in the comics is such a great character, and television Andrea is just terrible. I like some of the changes like adding Daryl but for the most part I like the way the comics play out more than the show.

I was let down by the finale. I was expecting a huge blowout fight with the Governor to end the season but it felt like a whimper to me. Too bad, maybe they're waiting for the season 4 premiere to make up for it.

this season was great overall. some truly excellent episodes mixed with some duds.
but that was a terrible finale!!! it would've helped if they didn't hype up the episode? the dramatic showdown between the woodburyites and the prisoners? how limp was that showdown??? zero fighting. just a bunch of people in the dark with tear gas and alarms. and then they run off!
I expected some cleverness to turn the tide. maybe some MacGyver ingenious tricks and booby traps to even the odds. not people running off at the first sign of tear gas.
and all the deaths promised? none of it actually fighting. just The Governor shooting all his own people that happened over the course of seconds!
and what is up with Andrea have a sitdown, heart-to-heart conversation with a guy that's going to turn into a zombie???? move, girl! she deserved to die for being stupid this entire season. let's forget about getting out of these restraints. I'll just talk to the future zombie and wait until the last second to try to get out. can she not talk and work at the same time?
and now the prison is going to be the new Woodbury with a bunch of kids and old people? yay! we have a new nursing home and daycare center.

I thought the Finale was Good. How are you assuming it could have been better? Also, the whole season seemed consistent to me. A few episodes were under par but overall was worth watching. I doubt you speak for 5% of the 12 million viewers. Real TWD Fans are grateful for what this show has done!

Pretty weak finale. The big Rick vs governor face off happened weeks ago when they sat down at a table! Governor dissapeared for the last 20 minutes of what was supposed to be the "penultimate"episode. Also such a creative cop out to have gov kill all his own people. And Andrea and Milton were easy to let go as a viewer. And the big twist is that the prison is apparently a retirement home now. Lame. I watch the show to be disturbed. I wasnt disturbed at all in the finale. Very unlike this series. Hopefully new show runner Scott gimple will restore the show to unflinching greatness.

  18. 18

I'm not going to lie I was shocked they killed Andrea. I just knew she would come back with Rick. Also Carl has been through more than any kid on TV has. Grant it's a TV
show it's one of the few I bother to keep up with. Now when will the Gov. get his for what he did to his friend and Andrea!! I'll be waiting.

  19. 19

Yeah the last two episodes were a waste. One was just dialogue. The finale was a let down too .. such a build up to this big war between the two and then the Governer ends up killing all of his own people?? and then they kill of *SPOILER* at the end?? Her character wasn't the greatest but come on, she didn't need to die either. LAME.

i agree with you caroislovee the finale was amazing i couldnt beleive it!! they brought back a sense of humanity! oh god the way they defended the prison with glenn and maggy man that jus looked pimp with them in that body armor goin at it!! and the andrea milton thing oh man that was badass!! watchin milton slowly turn then his voice turnin more and more zombie was ingenious!! saving the people from woobury and then carl freaking people out lookin like a little governor!! oh man there were soo many surprises i ddidnt know what to expect!! i thought maggy and glenn stayed theirselves and i was afraid theyd die by theirselves there!! then i thought hmmm maybe glenn will save andrea even when hes a zombie!! he believed people were still inside of the walkers…some form of their old selves!! i think andrea was kinda interested in watchin milton change an bein with him thru it and not thinking correctly so she didnt escape!! all in all it was incredible im glad they brought some love and humanity to the show!! any1 who didnt like the finale is an idiot!! caroislovee you said it perfect!! :)

I thought the finale was very good. While I am left wondering why the governor was not taken out in an appropriate for him way, I am thinking this will be taken up in the next season. I enjoyed the finale and do not agree that it was disappointing.

  24. 24

I loved EVERY minute of it! U must have been "otherwise engaged" if u watched it at all! Just my humble opinion :-)

Re: Brad – I totally agree.

Last season finale was so awesome, and most of what happened this season just plain sucked! Why can they shoot at the dead and hit all of them perfectly in the head, but when you have the whole cast at the prision shooting and the gov. and his folks in the finale and you hit no one! The writing and action this season was dreadful. And this is from someome who loves the concept of this show, it's just so stupid sometimes.

The Big Bang Theory is STILL ON???
I thought that show was cancelled or at least only showing repeats, I never even watched it. How in the world could that even compare or even be ON at the same time as The Walking Dead???…..
    I mean I just don't get that.
ANYWAYS, on to more important shows, The Walking Dead ( as violent & gory as it is ) was GREAT. I just wonder what happened to the Governor…I mean WHY show all the ppl from Woodbury coming to the prison but NOT show what happened with the Governor?
Did he NOT return to Woodbury?
Did they kill the Governor while in Woodbury?
And what happens now with so many new ppl in the group?
    SO MANY QUESTIONS !!!
    Next season spoilers please;)

Anyone who like the season finale does not know what good television is. That episode was a waste of time and left me wondering how the writers managed to screw up the best show on television.

"Anyone who like the season finale does not know what good television is"…
People are allowed to have different tastes and opinions, my friend. Who decides what is "good television" anyway? You can't blame people for enjoying something that you would have liked to be different. Show some respect.

Re: Cocochanel – I was surprised the folks from Woodbury didn't put up more of a fight at first, too, but you need to remember that they were all the happy lemonade sipping citizens that were freshly trained to shoot. There were 3 "soldiers" among them, the three we saw drive off. So that did make sense in hindsite. From what I understand the Gov was cutting off the truck to make them go back and fight.

I was pissed at being lied to by amc for 2 weeks about "epic battle" coming in sea. 3 finale,a flash bang goes off and we get a bad monty python impression (run away run away),I'm done with this soap opera limp dick excuse for a show.
