Call it karma!
Well, coincidentally, the country's internet is down again!
Previously, when their web went down on Monday, they released a statement saying
As the fearless film critic would likely say were he still alive, "the show must go on!"
Roger Ebert died yesterday, succumbing to complications from cancer, but his rich legacy lives on.
For the 15th year in a row, cinephiles and superstars alike will flock to Illinois to share their love of great movies at Ebertfest. The April 17-21 film festival won't be the same, obviously, without the presence of the legendary critic, but he will be there in spirit!
Organizers at the festival released a statement:
"All of us at Ebertfest are very saddened by the news of our dear friend Roger's passing. He was a remarkable man who influenced journalists and film lovers the world over. The 15th annual Roger Ebert's Film Festival will take place as scheduled April 17–21."
We suspect this year's event will be more than just a film festival! It will be a celebration of Roger's remarkable life!
And we can't wait to see him honored!!
