Avril Lavigne Sounds Like She Hasn't Grown Up In Lackluster New Single

| Filed under: Avril LavigneMusic MinutePerezTV

Spunky punky poptart Avril Lavigne has JUST released her long awaited single, Here's To Never Growing Up!

Perk up your ears for Avril's youth-centric anthem (above).

We had such high hopes for this tune when we heard the teaser…

But after taking a good long listen, we can't help but feel Here's To Never Growing Up sounds VERY reminiscent of Avril's old material, does not showcase her vocals in a very positive light, AND includes cliché lyrics that seem to lack any passion or real meaning.

But hey, the track's easy to sing along to, it IS kinda catchy, and could totally be a fun, background compliment to any Summer drive… so at least there's that, LOLz!

Jesus Perez! Talk about reading and REALLY over analyzing a fun pop song. I don't think this was meant to be a Grammy award winning, vocal showcasing song. Besides that, she does sound good and everyone already knows she can sing anyways. Reminds me of "Party in the USA," which should do very well on the radio.

it would be stupid and ironic if she sounded all sophisticated and ladylike, mama singing to the baby or her lover, or entertaining a whole crowd in a long elegant dress– when shes saying NEVER GROW UP. cmon she nailed it. if she did anything like i just described it'd be kind of an annoying and hypocritical song.. adult and refined like beyonce.. class.. avril's serious here about never quitting trying to be happy and have fun, and that i love

Ugh, how is it possible that her music gets worse as she gets older. I loved her first CD, and didn't mind her second. They had real meaning back then, her more recent stuff is shit. She's like 30 years old, you have to grow up sometime. Come on Avril, you keep letting me down.I feel like I've given up completely on ever enjoying one of her songs ever again.

I agree with Perez, this song is MEH …. sounds like something that was cut out of Keshas last album

Re: American4397 – Okay, but Miley was like 15 when she made "Party in the USA". Pop or not, you don't see the problem with someone almost 30 making music similar to that of a 15 year old?! I mean how much longer can Avril take this skateboarding, punk rocking, beach girl schtick? It's going to look quite sad in 10 years and she's knocking on 40's door.

I think it's an awesome song, and will do great in the charts.
For those of you complaining that she's never being mature= "They say 'just grow up, but they don't know us". ;)

I am not a huge fan of the song, but it's catchy enough and kind of has a "Complicated" sound to it. It also kind of reminds me of Nickelbacks "This Afternoon" in parts (lyrically speaking). I like the song - but if this is what the entire album is like I'll be disappointed. However, this is a MUCH better first single that "What the Hell" IMO - so that is an improvement. I keep hoping Avril will live up to all of the potential she exhibited in "Under My Skin". There's still time…

You guys are idiots. Over auto tuned? Ha… Nothing compared to some I've heard lately. This is way better than I expected after reading these. She's always had about 3 really good songs per album and I'm guessing she will this time too. Usually a mix of over poppy crap and some quality songs. Unfortunately, with today's BS and radio play, the crappier songs are what you'll more than likely hear.

Every thought maybe that's how the song is supposed to sound, hence the meaning behind it - "Here's To Never Growing Up"?
.. The song is catch and good.
