Justin Bieber, Kim Kardashian & More Join Russell Simmons To Urge Obama To End The War On Drugs!

justin bienber kim kardashian and more support russell simmons letter to obama asking to end the war on drugs

The people have spoken! And apparently what they’re saying is they want to finally put an end to “war on drugs!”

Russell Simmons recently posted a letter to his website urging President Barack Obama to tweak his policies when it comes to throwing drug users behind bars, and he’s gotten PLENTY of support from some of Hollywood’s elite!

Some of the celebs who have signed the letter include Justin Bieber, Kim, Khloe, and Kourtney Kardashian, Russell Brand, Jon Hamm, Scarlett Johansson, Eva Longoria, Woody Harrelson, and MANY more!

Talk about some serious star power!

The Def Jam co-founder and his band of all-star supporters say the biggest issue with the “war on drugs” is the amount of people being thrown in jail for nonviolent crimes such as drug use, and unless this number is reduced soon, our future looks pretty bleak:

"The greatest victims of the prison industrial complex are our nation’s children. Hundreds of thousands of children have lost a parent to long prison sentences for non-violent drug offenses, leaving these children to fend for themselves. Many of these children end up in the criminal justice system, which comes as no surprise as studies have shown the link between incarceration and broken families, juvenile delinquency, violence and poverty."

Plenty of people, like the Biebs and Samantha Ronson, have shown their support by spreading the word through Twitter, using the hashtag #EndTheWarOnDrugs.

It’s always great to see celebrities fighting for a cause they believe in, but we can’t help but feel like they’re over-simplifying this issue.

There’s no doubt that the number of inmates in the prison system has increased over the past few decades, but this isn’t a problem that is going to fix itself overnight.

And why should we care about these "celebs" that get into politics? Especially, them signing a petition? Oh cool Bieber signed it I guess now anyone who is a fan will now agree with him too. Most of these people are not educated or working a 8 to 5 job making less than what they make for showing up at an event, only to recieve your paycheck and see a big chunk go to the government. Why do they have so much influence in politics? How about these people abide by the law and maybe they wont end up in jail seperated from family???

I'm all for pot to be legal - hurry up! But really, look at this list of the stupidest people on the planet. It's hilarious! I'm sure some of them had to have help signing their name.

They are not being thrown into jail because of drug use, they are being thrown in jail because they are breaking the law. I do not think being held accountable for your actions is programmed into a celebrities brain when the cable and music companies tell them who to be. It is so great for bandwagon celebrities to be giving the message of stop punishing people who are breaking the law. I have heard Russell Simmons is very intelligent, and at least he knew it was the policies that are the problem, not the authorities who are doing a good job of rounding up law breakers.

You know it will happen now because Obama would rather be a celebrity than a President. He does special things for his friends. Also, he is a pot smoker too.

I give up on this country! Pill heads are dangerous! People that smoke weed that i grew up can't comprehend that it KILLS brain cells, and… If done all the time can cause harm to OUR values. All the stoners in my town are trash. Im glad celebs are rich enough the hire divorce and criminal lawyers. I don't think doctors should be prosecuted if you're not going to hold druggies accountable. I CAN'T WAIT TO GET THE HELL OUT OF THIS COUNTRY… JUST LET KIM K. TELL U HOW HANDLE THINGS. DUMMIES!!!!

LOL Bieber is against drugs? What!! Anyways, these are celebrities which most don't know a thing about politics. I'm sorry but there's a lot more going on that's much more important than the "war on drugs". Yes, people are thrown into jail for this but they aren't thrown into jails for taking drugs. No, they are put there for selling them or making them so they do deserve some sort of punishment. Obama doesn't have as much control as everyone thinks he does. Of course he's president but he can't just change things. In order for this to be changed it'd need to go through the house and all of that process and then to him. They have say first.

So, I do actually like Justin Bieber (and no, I'm not ten). However, when did he become a U.S. Citizen? No vote, no say. Also, these poor kids that are left without a parent because their parent is a druggy…those kids are better off with as little contact as they can have with that parent until they get cleaned up. These are one or two time offenders and user sitting in the jails. They are habitual and truly are harmful to themselves and those around them.

Re: JustSaying – that's what I was thinking too! when did rihanna or justin beiber become citizens? how can someone who doesn't live at a normal standard say what goes on for us regular people? these celebrities get out of tickets and anything that they are doing by their status. it makes me so sick that we have to abide by every stupid law, but they get away with it.

Justin Bieber is F*CKING CANADIAN! Why does he get to be the voice of the American people? God, I swear this kid abuses the f*ck out of American luxuries, yet is seemingly always complaining about this country. I'm so sick of his "Canada's awesome" "America sucks" attitude that I have seen him display. Either he needs to become a citizen or stfu.

They aren't being thrown in jail for no reason, there is always a reason, this is a disgrace, these assholes just want to use drugs, I don't believe Justin signed that letter, disgusting. If drug use is legal, it's going to continue being fucked up, people will be messed up, ignored, smoking everywhere you go, more crimes, deaths..etc And they want to allow drug use? Because these celebrities decided to SHOW A BAD example, a bunch of their fans are going to agree with them, which is bad. This is very stupid, soon you will see 12 year olds walking around with drugs. Fucken stupid, if he makes it legal, I am never visiting the states again, it'll be a huge impact to society, and all hell will break rules. There are many physcos in the states which is bad, which they will be abused. What does drug use even got to do with anything? It just makes everything worse.

That kid he said "Who lost a parent..etc" well, if that kid will grow up to be a physco path because (s)he is depressed, has no family, was thrown in jail, well if that 'kid' has a kid, that kid will be abused, neglected, or turned out bad, why because of drug use, which causes more disiablites.

Dumb fucken idea, disgusting, crime rates will go up, drug use rates will go up, it will be abused, it will be neglected, and then it will turn into more things more evil.

let me guess, Lindsay Lohan and Amanda Bynes also signed the letter. I am all for legalizing and taxing Marijuana! But lets be real. Do we want crack heads , meth heads, and heroin addicts roaming the streets freely. Do we want people doing bath salts cannibalizing people? Rehab for a lot of people is a joke; it is a get out of jail free card (Lindsay Lohan). Sometimes to hit rock bottom and get clean people need the worst possible wake up call they can get. It is also easy to get drugs in prison. The drug cartels murder hundreds of people in Mexico every year, where do you think a lot of the drugs come from? If we legalize it will it end the violence that comes with transportation and distribution or will it increase use which leads to more drug induced violence… Catch 22 that should be sorted out by educated people, not Kim and Justin….
