The neverending franchise. A glimpse into the future of entertainment monopolies? Sounds like it.

Disney announced today at CinemaCon that, starting in 2015, a new Star Wars film will be released every summer, alternating between main story episodes and stand alone movies.

The pattern will begin with JJ AbramsEpisode VII installment, set for a 2015 summer release. While no casting announcements have been made, the return of the original trilogy’s main trifecta has been hinted at.

Now, that’s a whole lot of Star Wars! But could it be too much? Wonder what George Lucas thinks!

Blahh. Who are we kidding? We’re dying to see Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill reprise their roles! And you are too!

And can there ever be enough Star Wars? (Ask us again in 2025!)

Who would have thought after 30 years Princess Leia would become a 300 lbs. Mean & Bitter Drug Addicted Alcoholic Bull-Dyke?

I really hope Disney doesn't mess Star Wars up.. it will make me beyond sad.

Fuck. They're turning Star Wars into a simple franchise.
At least George Lucas was smart enough to release the movies with a few years between them so people didn't get tired of the series.

Don't you mean they will release one every summer, assuming their reboot is any good, assuming they're profitable pictures? Disney paid a fortune for the Star Wars rights. If they bungle this, they'll never recoup their investment. I'd be very nervous if I were attached to this project.

Sorry will not be watching. Seems like Disney is making some bad decisions lately, like laying off a lot of their animators (NO computer animation is not as good), now this, and I read on TripAdvisor yesterday that CalOsha closed 2-3 rides at Disneyland for safety violations including Soarin' over California in DCA. Sorry forgot what the other rides are.
    Matterhorn is closed for maintenance.
Big Thunder Railroad is closed until fall for a major overhaul.
Guess I will be skipping their movie and treat my sister to Knott's Berry Farm instead.
