Awful. There's nothing else than can be said about this.

3 Doors Down bassist Todd Harrell was arrested Friday night after he clipped a truck with his car speeding in Nashville, Tennessee, causing the other man's vehicle to strike a guardrail and flip over in an embankment. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt, and was pronounced dead at the hospital soon after.

After having difficulty in the field sobriety test, Harrell admitted to authorities that he had been drinking hard cider, and was also on the painkiller Lortab and Xanax. THEN, when he was being booked at jail, they found a bag in his sock that had MORE drugs, including Oxycodone and Oxymorphone.

He was charged with a DUI last year for hitting another vehicle with his car.

Now, he can add vehicular homicide and bringing controlled substances into jail on to that roster.

He's being held on a $100,000 bond.

Such an unbelievable shame that he couldn't find the strength to get help before it had to come to this.

Our thoughts go to out the victim's loved ones and family.

Lock him up and throw away the key.

How come the 12-Step religious AA/NA cult "HIGHER POWER" didn't do its HIGHER POWER THINGY and keep him from driving?

So, what he did was OBVIOUSLY wrong. However, people fail to see that the other driver wasn't wearing a SEATBELT, he might have survived the accident if he was. I doubt he will go down for vehicle homicide, or whatever the term is in the states. The fact is they were both stupid and reckless.

Re: nina – seatbelts were actually pressed on by the insurance companies as a marketing stunt. If u don't go through the windshield that's one less thing to pay for….

Judging by the picture he knows he's screwed. Wrong place at the wrong time. Guess this was his wake up call, too bad both lives are ruined.

Re: nina – So the victim in this tragic murder, yes I said murder, is partly to blame in his own death because he wasn't wearing a seatbelt!? Really? I cannot believe some of the comments posted re. this article. Very few that have posted here seemed to grasp what has happened. A person with a history of alcohol and drug problems got into a 3 ton killing machine while drunk and stoned and, SURPRISE, killed someone. He may as well have taken a gun with three bullets in it and started pointing it at everyone on the road that night and pulling the trigger. 50/50 chance someone would have gotten killed. Unfortunately it is never the drunk that dies but some innocent minding their own business, trying to get to where they're going. And that AA cult saved my life 12 years ago. My next drunk probably would have been my last. It's a shame that Todd didn't seek them out. Going to a ritzy rehab, getting massaged, acupuncture and saunas doesn't quite do it. Doing the work, following the steps and being accountable to yourself and others works. It's not easy. But nothing worth having ever is. If you have ever had a few before driving home, look at this tragedy that has taken one life and that will haunt another till his dying day and think "There but for the grace of God go I."
