Federal officials have confirmed that female DNA and separate fingerprints were found on the pressure cooker bomb involved in the Boston Marathon attacks. While authorities are looking into the DNA investigation, agents arrived at the Rhode Island home of Katherine Russell — Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s widow — to gather a DNA sample from her.
The widow has insisted that she was left in the dark about her husband’s and brother-in-law’s plans, and while authorities are not suspicious of a larger terrorist group involved, they have not yet ruled out that others were not in the know. Katherine’s lawyer, Amato A. DeLuca, wrote via email yesterday:
“We want to state what we stated before: Katie continues to assist in the investigation in any way that she can.”
It is being reported that fingerprint samples have also been taken from several other people.
We hope the investigation is conclusive.
