the Queen anyone who pisses off the Queen!
Helen Mirren reprised her role as Queen Elizabeth II for the award-winning stage production of The Audience at the Gielgud Theatre in London this weekend!
But the real show took place outside where the actress told off a group of noisy drummers!
The street performers were apparently promoting the As One in the Park festival for the LGBT community later that month, but Helen found their banging a little distracting and told them so herself at the intermission!
She admitted that it definitely wasn’t one of her finer moments, and that she may have used a few no-no words:
“I was so upset from struggling through [a] scene … that I literally walked straight offstage, straight up the stairs and straight out the stage door and banged my way through the crowd who were watching and said, 'Stop. You've got to stop right now' — only I might have used stronger language than that. I felt rotten, but on the other hand, they were destroying our performance, so something had to be done.”
To make matters even more interesting, Helen was in full costume when she stormed outside and gave the drummers a piece of her mind!
Mark Mckenzie, who was one of the leaders of the street performance, says he and his buddies were a little shocked when they got scolded by Queen Elizabeth II:
“Not much shocks you on the gay scene. But seeing Helen Mirren dressed as the Queen cussing and swearing and making you stop your parade — that's a new one.”
We’re betting that was definitely a sight to see! LOLz!!
Despite losing her temper, Helen says she would actually like to offer the drummers tickets to her next performance to show there are no hard feelings!
As long as they leave their drums at home, we’re sure everything will be fine! Ha!
