Say what you want about Kanye West- the man knows how to throw a party!

The controversy and Kim Kardashian-courting rapper unveiled his anticipated new album on a loading dock in NYC's meatpacking district, and for a couple hours, it was the hottest place in the city!

Beyoncé and Jay-Z showed up, as did Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip, and Timbaland. Everyone was anxious to hear the new tracks!

So what did everyone think? Well, before reviews come in, all we can do is go by is how it made people feel, and the mood was reportedly ecstatic! Even normally dour-faced Kanye was smiling and laughing. He even tried explaining his work for once! He said:

"I want to explain something about the album title. Simply put, 'West' was my slave name and 'Yeezus' is my god name."

Um, OK. That one wasn't that much of a mystery… But according to Ye, the controversy isn't part of a plan. He said:

"I have a new strategy, it's called 'no strategy.' I have a plan to sell more music it's called 'make better music.'"

Of course, there was one strategy Kanye adhered to for the album- collaborate and listen! The album featured the work of Daft Punk, Chief Keef, and Bon Iver's Justin Vernon, among others. Kanye said:

"If I'm standing next to someone, that means they're better at something than I am."

Good strategy! And it sounds like it paid off!

THe reviews are starting to post and they are all bad. The only hope is for the record label to buy up the first release of the CD to try make it appear as a hit when in fact is is a dud.

After first week sales (only supported by the label) the CD sales will suck, like the music does according to the initial reviews.

    The Truth Hurts

He did not and DOES NOT have a "slave name". He was NEVER a slave! Nor were his parents or grandparents or great grandparents. Slavery ended 148 years ago!!!! Get over yourself!!! HIs name "West" came from his parents - NOT a slavemaster!!!! IDIOT!!! Just more bs out of his mouth.

Kanye may be a star. But he is a delusional one at best. His arrogant outbursts, his self-serving manner turns NORMAL people off. His megalomania astounds me. He needs to find a deserted island, burn the boat…so he can be happy to just listen to himself expound on how great he is.

Re: kabuki girl – I'm with you all this slave stuff hasn't been around in 148 years. its time to move on. none of born today were involved. I guess some people need a crutch.

So his Black Panther daddy gave his son a slave name - how has he lived so long with the indignity of it? This fool is so full of himself, when is he going to realize that he's all ego and no talent?

Sounds like a pretty desperate plot to sell records.

Think it'd do better if it had a kick-ass cover…though probably will sell millions, anyway. Think he should take some inspiration from this design contest, pretty cool stuff:

Re: The Rid – Since our being brought in chains to the shores of America, our brain power, labor, skills, talent and wealth have been taken, given and spent toward building and adding to the civilization of another people. It is time for you and me, the so-called Negroes, to start doing for ourselves. We must not let our children be as are we, beggars of another man for his home, facilities, clothing, food and the means of providing a living. Man depends on land for the necessities, food, clothing and shelter for survival. A prime requisite for freedom and independence is having one’s own land. There can be no freedom without a people having their own land.
The acquisition of land has been the factor for more wars than any other cause. Economists agree that in order for any type of nation or system, capitalism or communism, democracy or totalitarian or what have you, to exist and have a degree of independence there must be ownership of land. The so-called Negroes are without a state they can call their own. We have nothing to show for our more than 310 years of forced slave labor and more then 100 years of our free servitude to our masters’ children.
