90s Band Save Ferris Sues Their Own Singer!

save ferris lawsuit

All's fair in rock and roll…almost.

Remember mega ska band Save Ferris from the 90s???!

Well, they're making their big comeback… except lead singer Monique Powell allegedly forgot to invite the rest of her bandmates to the reunion show at the OC Fair scheduled for July 27.

Oh, she went there!!

Now, her former bandmates want their justice and considering they apparently NEVER approved or were even contacted about the show, we don't blame them!!!

Band members Brian Mashburn, Eric Zamora, Bill Uechi, Brian Williams, and Evan Kilbourne are so furious that they've filed a lawsuit against the rogue rocker for unspecified damages for false promotion as well as insisting the judge ban her from using the Save Ferris title EVER again.

But what does sneaky, sneaky Monique have to say for herself??

The rebellious musician said:

"While I had hoped this could be a reunion of sorts with all, or some, of my former SF band members, unfortunately that isn't the way it looks to be turning out."

Well, there will be a reunion, but it's going to be in the courtroom instead of on the stage! LOLz!

YUP! It's definitely not going to be the solo love fest Monique supposedly envisioned!!!

Sorry gurl, but deception and greed are NEVER a cute look.

Best get that pretty little skirt suit ready because you're going to need it!

Isn't there two sides to every story. Maybe you should comment once you have the full story. The Save Ferris show on July 27th is still on, and I and thousands of others are too! In fact you can buy tickets here

For those of us who loved the band and know that it's much deeper than her using the name a day in court cannot come soon enough. Those guys were the band, she was just the singer, and a pretty self absorbed fame hungry one at that. They probably would have considered a reunion show if she had actually bothered to pick up the phone and tell them about it. Maybe the guys will hold their own show in protest that night with their new band. I will be the first one in line at the door!

Anaheim, CA, April 9, 2013 - To Our Fans: It was brought to our attention that on or about April 8, 2013 Monique Powell, the former singer for the band "Save Ferris," announced that a Save Ferris "reunion show" would be taking place at the Orange County Fairgrounds on July 27, 2013. We feel it is important that fans of the band Save Ferris know that this is NOT a reunion show and the show will NOT include any original or former Band member other than Monique Powell. We have not authorized Monique Powell to perform under the name Save Ferris and the original and former Band members regret any confusion to our fans that may be caused as a result of any misleading statements or marketing materials disseminated by Ms. Powell or any other parties connected to this concert engagement. From what we can infer by the marketing and advertising materials we have seen thus far, this engagement is simply a Monique Powell performance of Save Ferris material accompanied by various musicians, who are unknown to the Band.

Due to the large number of inquiries we have received about this subject matter, we felt it was appropriate to release this statement to better clarify the participants of this event so that the public and our loyal fans can make an informed decision regarding whether to attend the event. Although we would like to perform an actual "reunion show" at some point in time featuring the original and former Band members, we would like to take this opportunity now to thank all of the Save Ferris fans who have continued to support our music and the Band over the years. Thank you!

You cannot bill yourself as the band if you did not create the band (it existed before you), did not write the songs yourself (therefore you are stealing someone else's work without their permission) and cannot bill yourself as the band when out of the 7 or so members.. you are the only one who was contacted and agreed to a show. To do so would be fraud.. right? If she had billed herself as Monique Powell formerly of Save Ferris singing maybe two Save Ferris songs I have the rights to.. well let's be honest.. she would have never been given the gig at the OC Fair to begin with.
