Demi Lovato's Biological Father Has Passed Away!

| Filed under: R.I.P.Sad SadDemi Lovato

demi lovato biological dad dead

Such sad, sad news!

We hate to report it, but it seems Demi Lovato's biological father, Patrick Lovato, has passed away.

We have very minimal details about the death, but her sister, Dallas Lovato, broke the news over Twitter.

She posted:

We know Demi wasn't super close to her biological dad, but we can't imagine how hard this is on her.

We hope the whole family has strength during this difficult time.

Our thoughts are with all of them!

BUT I'm sure she'll be talking about this for the next few years, using it as bait to sell her albums, since sensitive subjects about her private life are the only tools she has to get people to pay attention to her. Bonus points if she relates his passing to her "hitting bottom" again to go back into talking about cutting and rehab, ect.

    Why biological? Is she adopted?

  6. 6

She wasn't close to him, but I am sure she will use this opportunity to tell the world how sad she is, 'write' some shitty song about it and hog it to the 12 yr olds who still idolize her face, bum chin and all.
Honestly…anyone who believes her cutting/anorexia stint is just an idiot. I've had friends suffering from both. For her to use it as a way to sell albums, disgusting, vile, but hey, people buy into it.

Re: SadForHerToLoseAParent – - agreed, she will likely use the opportunity to 'connect' to the retarded people still listening to her music.

Re: SadForHerToLoseAParent – You know, one of the saddest thing about your post is that you failed to mention that in EVERY interview she's had post-treatment, they've asked about her recovery and all she's gone through - it's brought up to her, she doesn't bring it up until it's asked. Losing a parent is 1 of the hardest things anybody has to go through and I think you should be ashamed of yourself. Either show your respect for her loss or scroll onto the next article.

If you're going to tell bad things, just shut your face and don't even comment. She shared her rehab things with us because she wanted us, Lovatics to know why she was gone for so long. that is not your business and calling us retarted is not acceptable. Not only 12 years old are fans you stupid , I'm effin 18 years old and I'm a fan of Demi.

People who believe she's forced to talk about it are morons. No celeb is going to talk about something they don't want to. And you'd think people who interview celebs would know about Demi's issues already, as it's been 2+ years.

BUT IF THEIR FREAKIN DAD DIED ugh I would feel bad for them. I get where some of you are coming from though the Kartrashcans occaisionally dig up their dead dad for a storyline. But they don't have souls. To bad for Demi. I hope she wasn't estranged she will be sorry later.

Even when she knew he was terminally ill, she refused to visit or talk to him or anything so when Demi acts like she absolutely devastated about this, I won't believe this as much as I don't believe in any of her other lies. Knowing this, how can anyone feel sorry for her? To be honest she probably doesn't care or just sees it as another opportunity to exploit herself. I'm sure now she'll start talking about him to remind us of her "horrible" life.

I'm sure there are people who are sick of hearing the same thing again, but I know for fans and people like me who have been in similar situations as her, such as know with my own father passing away, it is nice to know that you aren't alone in what you go through. It makes it a bit easier.

She has said that it's something very difficult for her to talk about as it would be sharing that you had eating disorders and self-harm issues to 7 billion people. But she shares it anyways to bring awareness to the issues and help other people going through them as she has been showing other girls how to deal with it and that things get better and to stay strong.

She knew his cancer was terminal and she decided not to speak to him. If she acts grief stricken over someone she CHOSE not to see or talk to, it shows how truly artificial she's always been. And if she suddenly has new inspiration for a new song or album about him, she's just as calculatingly sneaky, using WHATEVER she can to make some money, when she didn't even consider him her father anymore: look up the behind the scenes to "Skyscraper" and her STEP-FATHER is in the car with her, and she starts to correct someone who asks who he is, but says "This is my dad." She didn't acknowledge him anymore. If she starts now, she's just trying to make money and get attention.

    Or maybe she ate him.

I'm sure even if she didn't have a relationship with her father it must spark some type of emotion even if just a little bit.

Re: Grace – No, one day when you grow up you'll find that celebs are incredibly self-absorbed and think of nothing but themselves. The reason she sounds so sincere is because of this thing called "PR or Media Training" which teaches celebrities to be as fake as hell and lie through their teeth. But almost every time she's in an interview she talks about her issues like it's a new outfit or something and has really banked on it (disgusting) and brought even more attention to herself. Before rehab she was basically a "nobody" with poor credentials and she still kind of is, but let's face the facts, she is known more because of rehab due to the media circus around it. Without that things would be VERY different.

Hell when was the last time she even BROUGHT UP her father unless and interviwer was the one to bring it up? I don't like demi lovato as much as the next person. But if you're going to hate on her, be smart about it. Otherwise you just look stupid.

1How do you know she wasn't close to him? I mean unless you're with her every second of the day, you wouldn't know her personal life. So again I ask, how do you know that she wasn't close to him? Again please provide actual evidence here. Not some mindless ramblings from a mentally inept hater please.
    2. I guess then we must have all forgotten that stint that she spent in rehab right? You know that place that actually SPECIALIZES in self harm and eating disorders? Hate to break it to you but it's hard NOT to believe in it when she spent time there. If you think thats her ONLY issues, that's up to you but she spent time in their. That's for certain. So I doubt you've had "friends" to use that.
    3. Why wouldn't she use this opportunity to connect with people? Is losing a parent NOT a traumatic event for anyone? Especially for an estranged child?

Or a lawyer talking about his personal experience to get a clientel for himself? And yeah she plays a big role in talking about her rehab stint. She's the one TALKING about it lol. Are you honestly that stupid to NOT know that the person talking about their personal issues plays a role in TALKING ABOUT it? Dur! Lol. Re: James – Uh, how do you know she actually went to rehab? She could've just cut a deal with the directors and asked to pretend to go there, after all it's a lot of attention for them. Her real issues were substance abuse, this ED thing was bullshit. And I heard she actually did go, but left after 2 weeks and stayed in a hotel until it was "safe" for her to return to LA. I would believe it, you can't put someone in a treatment center, especially at 18 without their consent and her parents somehow were able to send her there in a day's notice. Unless, it was a PR stunt and they planned it months ahead of time? Hm. And they would have to, by law, talk to Demi first about it since she was a legal adult in that state before going. Please don't be gullible and think about the facts. Demi is so full of shit she can taste it.

Unless she had a court order, but that definitely wasn't the case.

Not give her MORE attention? If she truly wants to help people, well only she can answer that honestly. But why are you making her more relevant to her “cause” whatever it maybe? Lol. Are you telling me that in all the history of every human being out there? Nobody grieves the loss of a parent? Estranged or not? Because I know a lot of people in my life. A few of them have been estranged with their folks and whey they passed, the shared a rather heart breaking amount of guilt and regret for NOT making peace with them? Don't you think that NOT feeling anything for him would be the bad thing here? Oh wait that would require you to have common sense. I apologize. That's for certain. You confirmed that for me in the next statement. If the ED thing was bullshit then she wouldn't have GONE to a facility that specializes in ED's now would she? Also who cares what her abuse was? Because an addiction is an addiction be it drugs or harming yourself or even eating disorders. Also if she was at a hotel all that time, don't you think that we would have seen PICTURES of her out and about? Its not like hotel staff members have camera phones or anything like that right? Or that even OTHER hotel patrons could see her right? Oh wait..they can. Never mind.

Sometimes even as quick as a day's notice. I guess you don't watch intervention to see that they actually process information pretty quickly. But if you want facts, here are some facts that you seem to have ignored. If she was at a hotel, how come there were no pictures of her IN the actual hotel? Don't you think that ONE person would have seen her there and taken a photo of her while she was there? And if this WAS a court order then we would have heard about it. If you think she's full of it, that's up to you and your mental ineptitude. But you're whole Demi Lovato conspiracy theory just makes you sound a dumb as those 9/11 truthers out there.

If you go to their website, you'll see the admission requirements, and Demi really didn't meet any of them. Demi is just like any celeb and will lie to get attention or to get out of things. And Demi's a "singer" who's job is meant to sing, a doctor attends years of school to treat people so don't even compare that. Wow that was pathetic to be honest. I do watch intervention but you will see that "reality" TV is pre-planned so it's unsafe to assume that.

Maybe you're not aware of this but this is a celebrity gossip site. A SITE to gossip about celebrities who YOU deem relevant. And of course she's going to talk about her issues everytime someone brings it up. It's an INTERVIEW you fool. That's the whole point of an interview to talk about her issues. Re: - – “Well, I'm not going to go into 9/11 but do you typically devote your life to defending people who don't care about you?”
Well this isn't about me. This is about you and your little Demi Lovato conspiracy theory that makes no sense. Especially given the fact that we're talking about a relatively large Disney celebrity who just made headlines about check into rehab. I think someone from the hotel would notice her.

“And about the photos, people probably didn't even know who she was, seeing as hotel housekeepers aren't 12.”
Again this was pretty big news when it hit. It would be hard to miss. Not to mention it's not like hotels also have young people staying there and it's not like young people have camera phones right? Oh wait they do. Well there goes that theory.

“Demi isn't that famous now and it was probably worse back then.”
Famous enough for her rehab story to hit the news sites. Again SOMEONE at the hotel she was staying at would have seen her and taken a picture.

Re: - – “If you go to their website, you'll see the admission requirements, and Demi really didn't meet any of them.”

Well lets see. Be at least 12 years old: Ok. Got that covered. exhibit symptoms of eating disorders (such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, or binge eating disorder), alcoholism, drug addiction, trauma, or mood disorders (such as major depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive behavior and self-harming behaviors): Got that covered as well. exhibit signs of primary mental illness including secondary addiction: Got that covered there too. What else do you got?

“Demi is just like any celeb and will lie to get attention or to get out of things.”
Well not according to the site here. Since she “met the criteria” so I guess there goes your theory. Besides her lying isn't what this is about. You said she didn't go. Well your argument so far proves nothing.

“And Demi's a "singer" who's job is meant to sing, a doctor attends years of school to treat people so don't even compare that.”

A doctor also advertises himself to get business. It's not like doctors make MONEY or anything right? So we have one public figure who's job is to cure people for a monetry income. And another public figure who's job is to sell music for a monetary income. Seems comparable to me dumb ass.

So then the issues that were taken on that show are all fake right? Despite the fact that these patients seem to be real and what not right? I mean its not like any of them have an imdb resume. So I think it's safe to assume that the people on intervention are real people who actually suffer from real issues. This isn't Hogan knows best kid. Try again.

“Sorry I hurt your "idol" but the truth hurts. And her main problems was drugs, just saying. She didn't even really have an ED. The symptoms of coke usage and bulimia are similar. Sorry to break it to you.”
You're right. The truth does hurt. And the truth is you're moron. So if her main problem was drugs, as you say, then that would fit one of the criteria for being submitted into TK right? TK a facility that specializes in drugs AND in ED's. TWO issues that fit her criteria right? So again thank you for proving me right. PS: The symptoms for abusing drugs and an eating disorder are anything BUT similar. That statement alones shows that you know NOTHING about this topic. You really are an idiot./

If any of us weren't particularly close to our dads and they died you'd still feel something. She's human, she's allowed. Also, she songs can help people, yes, and they also make her famous, and make her money, that's also true. But she's not the only bloody one doing it, is she? Most of these people write songs about their relationships or experiences. Taylor Swift, anyone?

Re: - – Lol, You are so stupid that it's not even funny. I guess I'll start in the beginning of your post. So you mean to tell me that in a LARGE hotel that holds a TON of people, not ONE of them had a camera phone that was able to take a picture of a relatively large named celebrity that just made news of being admitted into rehab right? I mean no offense to you, and I don't mean to insult your general stupidity but I find it unlikely that a relatively famous then, child celebrity can go into a hotel without ONE picture taken of her. So there goes that theory of yours. But if what you said is true, if her “main problem” was drugs, then that would in fact FIT one of the criteria that is set by timberline knolls. Because one of them is “exhibit symptoms of eating disorders (such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, or binge eating disorder), alcoholism, drug addiction, trauma, or mood disorders (such as major depression,” so according to you she was there and she went. So she couldn't have been at a hotel as you claimed. Also how could she “get out of things?” its not like nobody heard about what she did. So she couldn't “get out of it” people heard about. Of course she was going to TALK about things people have heard about lol. If you're trying to disprove me schlep rock, you're doing a pretty bad job of it. Espeically your last sentence which pretty much proved yourself wrong. You really are an idiot you know?

So unless you have actual EVIDENCE that she has no ED, and I mean evidence like personal files and what not, everything you say is pretty much falsified and that of a raving moron with no back up.

Being famous & having to deal with all the unintelligent haters talk shit about stuff they don't know about & also having HER dad ignore HER for most of her life. Try listening to her song "for the love of a daughter" & try to tell me that she chose not to see her father because he had cancer? No. But if you hate her so much? Why are you reading about this? & why do you care? You're just looking for all the attention. I'm happy for you? You got it. Educate yourself before talking shit.

Re: UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHGHHHH – Sure she didn't have a relationship with her real father, he hurt her when she was little and lost all her trust, just listen to For the Love of a Daughter, the song really describes how bad he hurt Demi in the past.. thats why we found this out through Dallas and not Demi, because Demi doesn't talk to him anymore doesn't mean this won't affect her.

My prayers are with her and her family. She didn't have a super close relationship with him. It is said that he abused her, and he did have an alcohol problem. Her songs for the love of a daughter and warrior talk about such things. It is still really sad and I know she must feel devastated. Please do not joke about this, it is very serious.

I love you Demi and I hope you get through this OK <3

If you dont like her then mind your own buisness and get out of this website and keep your thoughts to yourself. Even if Demi wasnt that close to her father doesnt mean she wont feel horrible about it. And so what if she makes a song out of this, its the way she expresses herself and everybody expresses themselves differently. I wish the best for her family and may Patrick rest in peace

Re: James – I just want to address a few things in your post.

    1. Coke usage IS the symptom of addiction abuse. It's NOT a diagnoses it's self. Sorry to break it to you but this statement here makes you sound border line retarded.
    2. I know for a fact that Intervention is anything but pre-planned. The only thing that is pre-planned is who gets chosen ON the show and which facility will accept the patient on said show if they decide to go to rehab.
    3. There is a HUGE difference between substance abuse and an eating disorder. Granted they both are “ADDICTIONS” in their own rights but anyone with an ounce of knowledge knows that they have huge differences.
    4. Demi is a SINGER with a record company. Her job is to sell albums. A Doctor associated with a hospital or one who runs a practice's job is to also provide a SERVICE for a clientel for revenue. Seems comparable to me.
    5. TK admission requirements are as followed. Age of 12, suffering from a mood disorder and suffers from eating disorders, alcoholism, substance abuse and or self harming. Demi was 18 at the time, admitted to using drugs and is actually IN a place for eating disorders.
    6. If Demi was a hotel, we would have VISUAL evidence by now. Unless everyone at the hotel, staff and patrons included completely FORGOT their cellphones the day and the duration she was staying there at.

Seriously some of you are disgusting to say such sick things when someone died! Sure he wasn't a great father but still he died and it is a sad event and some of you people actually have to be rude enough to take someone's death and turn it to bash and hurt someone, seriously disgusting. Demi talked about her dad in her Unbroken track by track on the song "For the love of a daughter" she said it was about her dad and says "At the end of the day no matter what I've been through with him I'll still always love him" So please just show some respect and stop being so hateful, someone lost their life it isn't something you should be bashing someone about or joking about its sad even though they had an estranged relationship Demi still loved him and so did Dallas so please show some respect for someone and the life that is lost.

Also yes Demi talks about her problems and she gets attention from them but still she helps people through them whether she wants to or not. Sure she has a past and mistakes but we all do.

So just show some respect and some of you stop being so hateful when someone has lost their life and people are hurting from it. No one knows the family personally so just show some respect and stop being hateful.

    RIP Patrick Lovato

Wow some of you guys are assholes. I thank God she talks/talked about her eating disorder because it is an issue that isn't talked about ENOUGH. There is a stigma attached to it and other mental illnesses that needs to be fixed. As someone who has personally spent time in a treatment center for an eating disorder, it is wonderful to see someone who is relatable and doesn't pretend she isn't human, that it never happened. Thousands of young kids look up to her and her bringing such an issue to the forefront consistently is crucial as media constantly exhibits a different message.

  66. MusicGirl says – reply to this

    66

Also Sending my prayers to Demi, Dallas and her family. Even though he wasn't the greatest father and they had an estranged relationship they still loved him and he was their dad. And I really don't care that Demi talks about her problems at least someone has the guts to talk about problems that others won't because it helps people out there cause society sucks sometimes. Sure she gets attention from it and it probably helps sell her music but everyone has something that helps them sell music. At least with the attention some people can see its ok not to be perfect, stick thin, or its ok to get help with a problem you have. No one says you have to like her, if you don't like her don't take the time to read about her or comment on her life. But really this isn't about that its about showing respect for some who lost their life. RIP Patrick Lovato

As for her wanting publicity I don`t know if it's true but admit a problem like un eating disorder is not easy, it is really embarrassing but she does. I prefer that she tries to draw attention to an issue that ultimately has helped many people instead to see Selena with Bieber, Taylor with all her boyfriends, half naked Miley moving her ass, or all other famous people just trying to look beautiful and countless stupidities that you see today.

No matter how close you are to a part of your family or how long you have known them you still love them admit it or not. It's pathetic how everyone jumps to her using this to get fans or sympathy it's disgusting considering fame or
Not she feels pain still! Stop being so judge mental and closed minded for once don't assume someone's gonna use this for
Attention.. He was her father I'm sure she loved him everyone has there
Problems but you can't judge them because of that. Nobody is considering how she must feel not having the best relationship with him & him passing away that's when it's the hardest! We don't all have amazing families we don't all talk to all of them either I'm sure most of us are on bad terms with someone but if they passed away wed still feel the pain of it because losing someone is never easy and nobody seems to be making it easier everyone just wants to bash on her some
More she has a beating heart and you all act like she is some type of robot with no feelings it honestly makes me wonder why anyone bothers with people like that in this world.

Bob dylan used the life of a Boxer who was incarcerated as a means to sell a song. Tori Amos used the tabboo topic of RAPE to write one of her most memorable tunes. I don't get how some people can be so stupid to see that EVERYONE uses something PERSONAL in order to SELL themselves. It's called ADVERTISMENT you idiot. Name one person who didn't use a “personal ploy” to make a sell. In fact how is that even a big deal? Lol. Man people are stupid.

You know, a lot of people judge her for talking so openly about her problems but she should be allowed to without so much hate. As someone who has dealt with personal recovery one of the things that is encouraged is to not keep everything bottled in. Talking about what's on your mind and your issues is a good thing. And she's able to speak about the help she received publicly, which has probably helped a handful of people.

She dont choose to talk about her issues it the interviewer who brings it up. Not her. And why wouldnt she talk about it when she wants to inspire people. I wonder if you are inspiring to your friends cause you seem dont seem to know what that is. She was the one 2010 that got the loudest screams swell when Camp rock 2 premiered. I think it's really fucking disgusting that people are saying that Demi'll use this as a stunt to sell more records. First of all, she barely talks about him as is. She wrote one song about him, on one of her 4 albums, but never ever performed it. If she wanted to use her situation as a way to get money she could've done it a really long time ago. Second, if anyone lost a father that they were even slightly close to, they would be a wreck nonetheless.

  98. r says – reply to this

    98

another thing, she is not the one who asks the fucking questions in these interviews. Interviewers do. They ask her about her past and recent struggles with eating disorders and mental disorders. She even says in one interview that she wants people to ask her things about her self. Know who she is aside from her problems. also, women and girls struggle with so many body image and self worth issues these days, due to the fact that there is a severe lack of diversity in terms of women, being depicted in the entertainment world today. we learn all of our social norms from said entertainment world, so she knows that it's important that she share her story so that women/girls who have dealt with the things she has, can have a voice/role model.

in addition, artists make music -at least those who actually write their songs- from experience. Do you fucking idiots think that she isn't going to write about such a big moment in her life? How fucking stupid are you? How do you get around with falling all the time due you being a complete dumbass. Plus all these people saying that she doesn't actually care about her fans. If you meet her, the way she is when you meet her is not something you can just fake. plus, her father abandoned her family, got arrested a bunch of times, drank to the point where he abused dianna, dallas, and her too. If your father was that way you wouldn't talk to him either
